Machine Definition Manager
Machine definitions are the first step in programming your part. Use the Machine Definition Manager to assemble machine components, set machine and component properties, select a control definition, and select a post processor. Once a machine definition has been created and selected, you can begin creating toolpath operations for the machine.
Control Definition Manager
Use this dialog as the home page for creating and editing control definitions. The control definition has two main functions:
It provides the post processor with the information it needs to properly process the toolpath data for the selected machine definition. This lets the post create an NC file which meets the control's requirements.
Control definitions are stored and organized in control files. Each control file can store several control definitions.
Post Processing
Post processing, or posting, refers to the process by which the toolpaths in your part files are converted to a format that can be understood by your machine tool's control (for example, G-codes). A program called a post processor, or post, reads your part file and writes the appropriate NC code. Generally, every machine tool or control requires its own post processor, customized to produce code formatted to meet its exact requirements. In addition, you can customize a post to reflect job or shop preferences, such as, safety blocks, tolerances, etc.
