I have never used belted or sabot bullets or pellets. I am strictly a patched round ball and loose black powder shooter. Your CVA rifle will shoot belted bullets but it may not be as accurate as you want. The twist rate of your barrel is not likely ideal for those. If it is 1 in 48 twist it may. Without knowing the caliber of your rifle I can't say if it will handle 100 grain loads (two 50 grain pellets) If it is 50 caliber it should but again may not give the accuracy you want. I hope this helps.

Most ramrod accessories are threaded 8 / 32 or 10 / 32. Hickory rods are the best wood rods. You will need to match the diameter of the rod for the caliber of the gun. 32 cal will need the smallest diameter. Wood rods can break and small rods break easier. I recommend a metal range rod for actual use and keep the wood rod in the thimbles for visual effect. ( that one hurt ME , it was so bad ) THAT'S something to be aware of ( I KNOW I'll never it ) Is a Davide Pedersoli brand b/p rifle a good brand to buy ? The reason I ask is that I found a D/P scout rifle in .32 cal on G/B wed site auction . I've never seen a barrel finished like it ! It's finished in a strange golden brown!!!! It doesn't really look like any rust blueing I've ever seen before ( but , it's beautiful though ) ! So far it's bid up to $405 . I found a blued version on Dixie Gun Works for $925 ( in stock ) . But , it's not nearly as beautiful! You have to check this one out ( it's on about page four or five , or so ( it'll sell mon. about 7 pm ) let Me know what You think of it .

If it works for you and you are happy with the results go with it. I've never had good results with it.

Hello sir .Thank you for your quick response. My intention is to do restoration and I would like you get them in original as much as I can . Nothing pop up on the web about this muzzleloader .The ramrod for example are missing .I can't find any pictures . Also would like to know the history, production and other information. I would appreciate any help .

I would like to help, but I don't know the gun you mentioned. You can get a hickory ramrod from Track of the wolf and other vendors. I know nothing about restoring original guns. I would recommend you get on American long rifles website. Many of the folks there are very knowledgeable on those topics.

The rifle is a custom built copy of Kit Carson's last Hawken rifle.

Not a kit. A good friend built it. It is a very close copy of Kit Carson's last Hawken rifle.

Custom built rifles like these don't come cheap. There are builders out there who can and will build one for you but you have to research and find them. Try Google to find their web sites and look at muzzleloading chat boards to find them. Or get involved with muzzleloading gun clubs and rendezvous groups to meet them personally. Check the Track of the Wolf site. They often have consignment guns for sale. It is a small group of people who appreciate custom built, historically correct muzzleloading guns. You have to really research to find them. I can recommend Jim Kibler, W B Selb, or the Hawken shop. There are others who have websites. There are also some very talented builders who do not advertise because they don't want to do this full time. You have get to know those guys personally. They have to like you and they have to enjoy building the very type of rifle you want, or they won't do it. I'm not trying to come across as "elitist" it's just that this is the way the culture is. The friends who built my rifles request that I not give out their contacts. I won't because I may want them to build another rifle for me someday and I do not want to burn those bridges. You can find what you are looking for if you look into it.
