I appreciate that the chest is on a snap instead of a pin hinge. Better to pop off than to break off.

Say what you want about the lack of paint (though I think that the paint highlights are plenty already), but almost all of MMC's figures are fun, which is more than I can say than for almost every other company, maybe except for DX9 or UT.
@bobagorofАй бұрын
It's not covered in paint, to be sure, but there is plenty of breakup due to moulded detailing on the legs and arms so I have zero problem with it. And it's certainly a fun figure!

I will always have mad respect for Bobby. He always gives it him best shot, with the transformations. And this one is no exception. I really appreciate all the time and efforts he puts in. Thank you I was having a hard time with mine. But you definitely helped

100% agree with your final thoughts. My middle son got this one and he loves it. My oldest is waiting for Blades and my youngest son wants their Streetwise and Groove. I have First Aid and love it. MMC is always a win for me and I agree with what you said about their face sculpts. They're always nailing that. I wish MMC was still doing more of the original car bots and jets and other first couple season characters. I really love what MMC does, even with the lack of paint.

This might sound dumb but I feel like the height of other figures sort of takes away from the benefit of simplicity in this one. By that I mean to say that I think it’s kind of perfect. It doesn’t mess with itself or contradict itself. Everything makes sense. Idk. This is kiiiiind of 10/10 for me.

This kinda feels like the old G1. Transformation wise.
@AlexReynardАй бұрын
For me it's simple; less paint means less chipping when I'm playing with it. So for handsy, non-display guys like me, I'm all for this. I pretty much just want the toys I had as a kid, but huge and more complicated.

Nice review - I think it will look amazing next to assaultus and their future devastator
@jamesburr25Ай бұрын
I completely get Bobbys issues with this figure, but it’s part of the course with MMC figures using paint for details rather then an overall paint scheme, I do agree that with their larger figures it doesn’t do the figure justice and needs more paint. However this did not stop me and shouldn’t stop anyone going in on this figure or the rest of their Protectobots set. I know they have their own scale but the engineering, design p, intuitiveness, fun transformation and the unique all in one are all massive up sides to this figure. I have their Assaultus and it gives me nostalgic G1 toy feels every time I look at it, and MMC have clearly learnt from it especially from a stability perspective of the combiner hips. I am looking forward to completing the set. If I wasn’t getting FT Constructicons I’d be in their Constructicons as I think the Constructicons and MMC all built in engineering really suit the Devastator look especially when imagining an updated G1 toy aesthetic. Well done MMC in my book

Oh, man. Seeing you get this guy makes me think the store I used will be getting mine in soon. I think it looks great, and as others have said, MMC figures are just fun to mess with. The limited paint makes me less worried about scratches, and there's something so satisfying about their transformation engineering. It also looks like they learned a LOT from their Incursus (Onslaught) figure. This guy is way more proportional in robot and combined mode than Incursus.
@markcastellanet9672Ай бұрын
You can see where they learned lessons from the first all in one.
@joey159213Ай бұрын
Mmc transformations is their strong point. Wish they jump on the paint train though to set them off.

Good review. I really like MMC take on figures. I thought I was done with combiners, but this one has been making me want to get a good Defensor as the only one I have is the Generations Toys Defensor, which I like and I know you didn't. I really like the 3 figures that have come out so far. Looking forward to the last 2 and the combined mode review.
@goaway3487Ай бұрын
Definitely looking like MMC will have their Defensor completed before XTB gets theirs done. Will you flip the displays having a Complete Defensor for a minute? I know you've planned on having the MMC as a team display with the XTB ultimately being for Defensor being it's probably going to end up the larger Combined.

I like the figure and I think it’s great. My copy came with a damaged foot (underside) and a hairline crack point is the feet are wack. Also the ports, and tabs in general could be more robust or even made out of diecast. Case in point is Bobby mentioned a tab with a plastic fatigue. That should not be happening to a set that in its entirety cost $650 especially from MMC. I’m not nitpicking either as provably won’t be in on another set from MMC but I will finished this one. Again great piece in general, and I adore MMC however I already have them and the choices they make with tabs and port are my only issues exclusively. Don’t really care about too much paint and the design choices and transformations are perfect.
@markcastellanet9672Ай бұрын
They are pretty good about replacing broken parts.
@JW-dc8hkАй бұрын
@@markcastellanet9672That’s interesting to know and it’s a great aspect of the company. Again this is a really good company. But it’s also that I prefer that ports, vital tabs, feet which all the weight is on, connecting piece are all reinforced with a material that I don’t have to think too much about. Longevity equals value to me and I want that in a piece. $659 for the combined robot puts things in perspective. Now if they stated to use metal for ports and such then you’ll have to pay an extra $50 then I’m in. That also sets them up for me to have confidence to buy in the future. No offense meant to you as Thanks for your suggestion. 🙏👌💯
@JW-dc8hkАй бұрын
@@markcastellanet9672Yeah I hear but for 50 bucks more I’d rather the companies just reinforce the combiner tabs and ports with diecast or metal of some kind. Also the critical areas as well with diecast such as the feet on the character can easily be diecast as these feet are thin and the metal painted black would have been a really nice touch.
@markcastellanet9672Ай бұрын
@@JW-dc8hk I understand. In my experience, diecast does not always mean sturdier though.
@JW-dc8hkАй бұрын
Well in a practical sense diecast is metal so of course it’s going to directly mean it’s a much sturdier material then plastic of any kind except reinforced plastic perhaps. Are there situational where the piece which the diecast are attached to which is plastic breaks? Absolutely. However I did address this situation by saying “ports and connecting tabs” should both be diecast. Is it also possible the the diecast itself breaks? Absolutely. But this is NOT the rule but the exception. My argument isn’t a debate about perfection rather an argument of what material is a higher level of imperfect. Diecast compared to plastic is simply stronger. I don’t want to to take a strong position here but this is a fact not an opinion. That all being said I get plastic can be great and that’s cool however for me an overall expensive figure I will require diecast from this company for critical parts.

Mine's arriving tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it but I have a lot of issues with MMC recently. Between strange decisions that cause weak areas where stressing or breakage can occur (Steeljaw has this problem too), the stupid exclusive things (I got the first run head but they've already listed a reissue without it, so they clearly didn't make a lot), and the lack of optional pieces because of them wanting to sell separate toy versions (not just an upgrade kit like Bruticus), as well as the obvious lack of paint, the price is pretty hard to swallow. Worst of all, MMC are even less receptive to feedback than even FansToys...
