Well, you've done it again. This is another I've had my eye on for some time. I have multiple bottles of vintage Eau Sauvage EDT and a current formulation also and love it. Omar from the School of Scent channel highly recommends this as well. Guerlain Vetiver and this will be purchased by me shortly. Thanks for the thorough review!

Wondering if you could compare and contrast the Eau Sauvage Parfum with Eau Sauvage Extreme? ES Extreme is still available, but rare, but probably not any more rare than ES Parfum. 35 years ago my girlfriend (now wife) gave me Eau Sauvage. I recently bought a new bottle from the Dior website and it is as I recall. Hard to believe it is the same formulation, but I do not detect a change from what I recall (but memories are tricky things).

That's a nice anecdote. Scent memories can be the most gripping. The Eau Sauvage Extreme (2010) is available fairly widely, but I'm not sure about the original Extreme (1984). However, it's the original Eau Sauvage from 1966 that is exceedingly rare and the one I'm referring to in the video. I will try to get my hands on the Extreme (modern) to do a review, because although I don't have it, I absolutely love the line. As for original batches of Eau Sauvage and Extreme, I unfortunately have little hope of finding any

The EDT has continued to be around since it was released in 1966 and is sold at discounters for typical designer prices. I have it and it's great. The Parfum is a flanker, rather than a remake or modern interpretation because the original is still around. The Parfum never existed in 1966. Grab the EDT for the warmer months! It will be right at home next to the Parfum. A lot of collectors have both on the shelf. Classic DNA.

It retains the same DNA and adds a modernity to it. To me it is very much a modern version of the original. I don't think the simultaneous existence cancels out the fact that one is a modernized version of the other. I was referring to specific bottles from an original 1966 batch, which I have on good authority are amazing. Unlikely to find many these days though. Yes, it is a great scent. I am a huge fan of that aromatic "Ivory Soap" vibe. I am deciding between Eau Sauvage or Tom Ford Ombre Leather for a wedding later today!

To me, this Parfum smells like a vanillic, sour lemon candy sitting next to a burning incense stick.

@@DarkHorseDanny The description doesn't do it justice. Also, my hypothetical incense stick is dry and resinous if you smell the bottle cap, and it is burning if the cologne is sprayed on skin.

Nothing that I know of by those brands, but check out Tour by Beverly Hills Polo Club. Not identical to Eau Sauvage Parfum, but it is the closest one that I know of. Capucci Pour Homme is also similar, but it reminds me a bit more of the original Eau Sauvage (more citric, herbal, green and old school than Parfum).

Dont buy this if you're under 40, youll smell like a grandpa. Its a nice scent but i had to give it away.

No, you smell like a Daddy. I’ve been using it since I was 20 (in 95) and MAN did I stand out in the crowd! In a Good way. I haven’t smelled the 2017-version yet, but I have used up several of the original and still have the 2012-version.
