Another great review. Lots of little nuggets of goodness to digest. Thanks guys. Re whether to take a Sorcerer or not, I've briefly tried both ways and found that I like taking a Sorcerer with the spell Strengthen (to re-roll various defence dice until the start of my next turn). I cast it most turns on my most important unit on the front line, and when combo'd with Tenacity or Cave Dweller, the unit is quite tough. This seems to work well with the overall theme of the Underearth to stand your ground and slowly grind down your opponent.

Thanks Perry! I could see how that spell would be a tasty combo with Tenacity or Cave Dwellers. I need to re-look at my spell selection. I've gone 100% for 'efficiency' in my picks but they could be played quite differently if I chose 3 buffs instead.

I just read the spell cards and I guess you could combo time magic (slow time) with firearms and experiments techniques for +2 modifier? Sounds quite juicy on paper :)

Every time I look at the Masters, they feel more like Warhammer Skaven or explosive-toting goblins than traditional fantasy dwarves... (or the Chorfs, I'll give you that). And they're tempting me!

Hehe, no worries! There is some interesting stuff on the board but with the Dwarfs I think they're key trait is toughness, which is better reflected in the raw dice/power/bonuses of the Great Kingdoms. The board is a little more of a crapshoot that can easily fall apart on ya, which is perfect for the rats/gobbos.

@@RodgeRules 100% agree, my dwarves work wonderfully as GK, and always felt a bit "off" as Underearth... problem is, now I need to find some rats (at affordable prices) for Underearth

Since the most recent FAQ effectively confirmed that a roll of "1" is always a miss, I would assume that means that "outnumbered, outclassed" will still work in conjunction with heavy weapons?

The most recent FAQ just says that anything less than a 1 is a 1 and anything more than a 6 is 6. So this will help you if you're exhausted or have a negative modifier from something else, but doesn't change anything for the heavy weapons.

Thanks for the video! I hope to get some folks playing aom in my club and I think masters will be my first choice (will play them as humans/dorfs/ogres with guns as demolition teams).

According to the unit chart in the book, warriors can have no special equipment as well.

Hello Rodge! I have a question about the aggression of the levies without equipment: would they have 1/2 or 1/3 in a melee combat?

It is 1/2 in melee. IIRC, one of the charts is not correct.

For the Alchemist, would the new "figure count" rule for bonus dice mean he could only ever gain 1?

Ooo, good catch! I had to see if the same wording got added to shooting and it does. To be fair to Nick, this one has been in the can for quite a while, possibly before the new rulebook/FAQ changes! The Alchemist definitely needs a FAQ now!

@@RodgeRules Yeah they have quite a few issues created by this rule change (still no idea why it was done). The second legendary warlord for Goths gets bonus attack (and defense) dice based on number of fatigues. But under latest rules he could only ever get 1 such attack die.
