This is gonna sound cheesy.. But it's a beautiful thing... The fact that we can just sit here amongst each other, watch, reflect, and discuss a movie from our a childhood. This film truly means a lot to me, and reminds me of when me and my grandfather went to the theater for this back in 1987. I will always associate this movie with our relationship.

That’s about where it ends too (minus the scenes up to the school) 🤣.Until the end. To me this movie suffered so badly in the middle but the intro and ending and are an 11/10. They need a 2021 remake. Without the original actors, soundtrack, and similar scenes such as the end battle it just wouldn’t be the same and modern film making and actors would actually produce an moderate or decrease production.

For me personally Meg Foster was the highlight of this film, along with Dolph in his small bikini bottoms...her portrayal of Evil Lyn was so memorable, her costume was so fantastic, with a touch of the cartoon style, her make up was amazing. I just wish they had showed more magical elements to her and used some story arcs from the tv show. Never the less.. as a stand alone film it gets better with age! Love you Meg and a nod of approval to Frank Langella, Jon Cypher and of course Dolph

Every time I watch this movie, I love Meg Foster more and more. She and Langella are total bosses here and I love how much the movie let them show it. Even all these many years of similar superhero-type movies have surprisingly struggled to bring villain performances that are nearly as expressive and memorable, outside of a select few, despite them having vastly bigger budgets.

+richis404 In retrospect now that I'm older realize how bad this film was. More over this is something I really hate to see good actors in really bad movies just like Raul Julia in Street Fighter both Langella and Julia said they did it because their kids were fans of their respective franchises.
@richis404

Lord Benjen Stark I agree the movie isnt good and I know about it that these actors did it mainly for their kids , but I think Langella also said that he had a lot of fun playing the role . Watching the movie is a nostalgia trip for me , liek I said I was fan of the cartoons so a live action version of heman blew my mind as a kid , but being objective I think the main flaw of the movie is that they didnt play it entirely on eternia
@lordbenjenstark3792
@lordbenjenstark3792 8 жыл бұрын
richis404 Exactly, Langela did steal the show and the whole purpose of fantasy is to forget one's current reality. So them coming to Earth was kind of dumb and unfortunately Beast Master 2 made the exact same mistake which ultimately ruined the franchise.

I think movies had a sincerity that is lost in today's world. Even something as clearly ridiculous as Masters of the Universe was played straight. Nowadays it would be made ironically and goofy and they'd be quipping every 2 minutes. This is one of the exact reasons the new Star Wars movies feel off. They are much too self aware. The original trilogy let you get lost in the world and invest in the perfectly constructed reality of it all. Now it's nodding at the audience half the time and making unnecessary references to things from before and treating the movies and characters themselves as legends within the story's own internal universe. Kids used to have cool, iconic and well drawn characters whose shoes they could step into for a few hours. Now they have placeholders who spend more time fawning over the old characters than becoming good characters in their own right. I realise I'm grown up now but I highly doubt kids are as excited to imagine themselves as Finn, Rey and Poe compared to Luke, Han and Leia.

It was alright. It wasn't the best, because it didn't follow the cartoon. Sometimes when you've seen a cartoon growing up, you fall in love with it, but then when it's made into a real live action movie, it ruins the cartoon, because they take things out that was in the cartoon or add things that weren't even in the cartoon, and that just ruins my childhood for me.

It could be it was from when Skeletor had a larger army for sure, and Eternia military in the cartoon is... drastically down-sized as well. I can't think of seeing more than a squad of them in the entire cartoon series. LOL.

Thanks for the post. They still haven't put this on Netflix, which frustrated me mightily. Langella's rendition of Skeletor, and the director's straight-faced attempt at making this movie an "epic" make it so bad it moves back into awesome territory all over again.

The chicken wings scene sticks in your head for the rest of your life if you were a kid like me back in '87. This movie is narly and 80's bodacious, un-excellent critics of the time who were not kids didn't get it. I accepted it as a huge movie with no questions asked back then and don't see why it ain't fabulously rad today. Do not understand the gratuitous criticism, jealous of the bodybuilder Lundgren maybe, all actors played excellently!
