How is it possible that 99 people gave this a thumbs down? It is one of the greatest golfing achievements of all time, and even if you're not a Tiger fan today, how can you disparage what he accomplished when he was barely out of college in 1997?

Not sure what's going on with the thumbs down. Could be a bunch of people expecting new golf videos and getting disappointed when noticing they're 25 years old. Personally I love these uploads.
@margaret54182 жыл бұрын
Agreed. There are many situations like this in sports and in other venues that some don’t like or even hate the person performing. However, no matter what you think of the man, Tiger Woods, off the golf course, it’s crazy to deny his talent on the course. Talent has nothing to do with his personality or behavior. How can you deny that talent when the greatness of that talent is right there in front of you. A “bad person” off the course is completely different from his golfing ability on the course.

Remarkable and revealing to come back and watch this with the benefit of hindsight. Tiger literally remade the game, he single handedly created a whole new generation of players who wanted to emulate him. He's the reason why the tour is so deep in talent now and why it's so hard to win tournaments. Every week is almost like a lottery, anybody in the field can win, and it was not like that in 1997 or before. Everything has gotten better, even the announcing. And it is all due to this man.

I remember that I was inside a car dealership waiting to do a car deal, hoping they would not call my name before the Masters was over. I was never more grateful for the dealership to be backed up that day, and I got to watch it all that historical Sunday, at the Masters.

This tournament inspired a generation of golfers including myself he made golf cool and attracted would be athletes from other sports to take up golf instead all of the best young superstars will name this tournament as the one that got them enthralled I Didn’t think I’d ever see this one topped and I think 2019 did it for me it might not have been in quite of dominating of fashion because he couldn’t out drive everyone by 30 yards plus anymore but he put together some vintage stuff on the back and closed out the best players in the world to complete his comeback ironically becoming his first come from behind major championship I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many grown men weeping after a sporting event before 🤣

Back when Augusta National was a true inland links style course. Fairways were wider, there was no "rough" as we see it today (tall and thick), shorter length, less trees to block the wind. Exactly how Bob Jones wanted it.
@americanswan4 жыл бұрын
They added trees? I don't know all the changes they made as a result of Tiger. When I say that, I mean length. Tiger was hitting the ball so far. Players changed. Players beefed up.
@TheLocalLt4 жыл бұрын
Yeah Augusta is still a great course but it’s absolutely not the course it used to be, it retains some features of a “second shot golf course” but these days driving accuracy is far more important. It’s like the Masters and the US Open decided to swap identities, as the US Open under mike Davis has totally changed the focus away from driving accuracy
