There's one intervew with Rajeev Masand where he discussed about the anatomy of a song which was "Tum Hi Dekho Na" from his movie "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna", I literally bowed to his cinematic brilliance listening to him. Not only that I believe My Name Is Khan was one of the well researched films from Bollywood. Sadly, that creative Karan is long gone now since he started taking interest in the film business more seriously in the last decade. Having said that, he truly lives and breaths cinema but I hope Rocky and Rani tanks at the box office so that he goes back to making rom-com with Shah Rukh Khan again in which we middle-class want to get swayed again.

Karan johar is one of a leading businessmen in our country and people actually focus on the wrong stuff about him, he has one of the strongest minds and conviction when it comes to executing and presenting things, he should instead be consider as a genius. Thank you pratham, you're an amazing person and a fantastic mind yourself too. Thanks for doing this.

Karan has an astute business mind, Pratham did a good job with his questions. He had some interesting questions like the kind of startups possible in the film industry or like the syllabus of the course on biz of bollywood. How I wish he could have gone deeper on the business side questioning. The line of questioning became a bit broad and diluted. I don't know if it wasn't done because karan can't share stuff about it beyond a point. But would've loved a more focused line of interesting questions to give a sneak peek into the workings of the fascinating world of bollywood.

Baahubali series kickstarted Part 1 & 2 phenomena. Coming to Risk taking - I feel Baahubali series was the biggest risk as it was the highest budget film at that point of time and that too coming from Telugu Film industry which didn’t have a large market like Bollywood back then but Rajamouli sir's conviction in his skill and the teams strategy made Bahubali a series that went down in India's history as the series that started Indian cinema's journey.

I love hearing producers especially Karan johar ... they have deep experience in the field including about actors directors support staff scheduling , costs and returns and the trends in industry ... , I'm from telugu industry and here there are great producers like Suresh babu , Dill raju etc ...their interviews are encyclopedias .. I believe KGF learnt from Bahubali and cut down production cost for the same effect at box-office... Kantara is typical example of short budget film that when made right can be a block buster ... I as a normal viewer I think any movie that engages ur mind will be a success .. that's a good script , screen play , background music , and great direction and actors ... kantara and kgf proved that stars are not necessary .... Kantara had all of these elements especially great background music , great acting and direction ... and it's made in low budget ... like no expensive locations or costumes or too many extras or massive sets ..... that made it a block buster ...

I've a newfound respect for Karan Johar. His vast knowledge about his work really supports the passion he shows for the same. I don't know why people take shots om his personal choices, but I think he's a true "people's person" at heart. Creative personalities are bound to be like that - cheerful, chirpy, open. As an advertising student myself, I really appreciate the way Karan went on to explain in detail, using jargons wherever necessary. A cup full of learning 🙌🏼

dudeeeee, Pratham. All that who spoke is K Jo, but this interview says a lot about you. The relevant and appropriate questions you asked throughout the interview and never interrupted K Jo. You are prodigious. I would be surprised if K Jo did not ask for your contact after the interview.

tbh .. I never hated him .. and now I watched and listened to this sensible and thorough interview of his and I think people should not hate him for the sake of hating, for his sexuality or whatever people perceive about him. Let him do and enjoy how he wants. It is better to focus on the good a person has rather than picking on their flaws.

Do NOT work at Dharma. I graduated from a top university abroad, interned there for a bit and I was shocked at how it is. It is NOT set up as a corporation at all. I feel like Karan is trying to make his company sound WAY cooler than it is. It is not 400-500 people, lol dude it’s not more than 100, 50 of which are creatives who are not really in the office as much. The business departments (production, finance, accounting, legal) are completely separated from the creative departments. They are completely different wings and don’t interact at all. As a non-creative person, you are not allowed to walk into the creative wing. We literally had a shit working space and it was like being in a completely different office. Maybe it’s good for creative head of departments (cinematographer, assistant directors, art teams) but it’s NOT a place for a business grad to go. I’ve been to some other film/web production offices and they seem to have a way better set up. Other thing is that all my colleagues in the “business” functions were like men from 35-50 who barely knew English and just did not have a professional demeanor. Look it’s totally fine if you don’t know English, but I’m just saying that’s not necessarily who you would expect your colleagues to be after getting a proper business degree, you’re not gonna be around people similarly qualified. Plus, the culture of my team was HORRIBLE. The lead guy was a very crass, loud, extremely sexist, had a crazy ego, no female felt comfortable talking to him, and there was lot of attempted sabotaging going on, which I personally had never experienced in the work place. You have to do menial tasks like expensing receipts, printing papers for months before doing anything else. My other work experiences had been outside of India so I wasn’t sure if working in India just sucks or Dharma was especially horrible, so I straight up asked the other two people my age working on that project who have worked with other Indian production companies, and they all said that Dharma is the worst place they’ve been at. I cannot believe I gave up a tech experience for that… beware of being a “business person” in the film line! It’s not as glamorous, and DEFINITELY NOT AT DHARMA. If you start you’re own thing after going up the corporate ladder in another industry that may be fine, but there’s honestly not much of a thing as climbing up the ladder at Dharma.
