I think Brent's vocals can be excused here as I believe he had a pretty bad throat infection at the time. Imagine just how painful it has to be to do screaming vocals while your throat is burning with bacteria.

Everytime i watch a live mastodon video, i have hope that they'll sing well, or even just decently. Never has that wish been fulfilled. I still love them though.

2007 seemed to be a great year for Download festival. i've seen several vids of many bands and the crowd was insane in all shows.

these guys are so exciting to see live and this song is killer in the sense that it has so much different stuff going on in it..hope I get to see them next month!!

I have heard brent was suffering from some strep throat like illness, making it painful for him too sing. But instead of pussying out, he became a troll and growled his way threw the setlist, blowing all the minds in a 10 mile radius in the process.

I think I love Brent infinitely more for all the videos from Download. MAN CRUSH.

Mastodon have NEVER been a band with great live vocals, but if you look past that, they're amazing live. Seeing them on the final show of the Crack the Skye tour cycle was incredible. A live performance will never sound cd quality in every aspect because it's just that...a LIVE version where things aren't always perfect.

Who left the bad right before a big tour. So they needed someone to "grunt or something" as Bill said, so Troy and Brent stepped up.
