Brann is on something right now. The whole band is so humble its insane. Its funny when they do interviews all of them are so low key. And they speak as if they're inside a library. You would never know they scream their lungs out for a living. They kick so much ass \m/

Went to see Metallica and Slayer in Stockholm last summer. Mastodon was also there, obviously I didn't know them. But now, I Iike Mastodon more than both of the two bands above. So supporting bigger bands aint so bad Mastodon! You at least reached me
@Jafromobile9 жыл бұрын
Johanautchin I know what you mean. I saw Clutch last fall in Norfolk, VA. I've been a fan of Clutch for decades. They were touring with Lionize. Never heard of Lionize aside from a marketing email because I bought clutch tickets. Lionize blew me away, they're fantastic live and they moved the crowd. I bought everything they ever recorded off of Amazon. Starting the next day, Amazon wouldn't leave me alone about some random band called Mastodon. For months Amazon kept recommending them almost daily and I kept ignoring them. I was like who?!?!? Once more 'round the sun, yeah right... Then Clutch announced their 2015 tour with Mastodon and it all started to made sense. I figured if they're alright with Clutch, then they can't be all that bad. I look 'em up, oh hey, 2 decades worth of albums and holy cow, they were prolific. I listened and my jaw hit the floor. All 5 of them. I looked like the thing on the cover of The Hunter. I have since bought everything that Mastodon has ever recorded (thanks Amazon) and can't stop listening to ALL of it. These guys DO understand what it means to create timeless music. The more I read about what I missed, like their VMA "performances" and their past interviews, the more I like them. They seem to understand heavy metal more than the actual forefathers of heavy metal. They ARE metal. Mastodon has to go down in history as the greatest opening act I've never seen. Getting a leg up from an established band definitely helps! On their current tour, they appear to be alternating the headline act with Clutch in different cities. Now if Baltimore can just stop rioting and burning long enough for me to make the show...

That makes me feel somewhat old hahaha.. I'm pretty sure I was like 15 when that album/song was released. I had already been into metal/heavier shit for a long time, but when I first heard "March of the Fire Ants" in 03/04 on a Relapse Records demo with diff bands from their label, I immediately loved it.. Looked to see who it was, and have loved em ever since. Ended up seeing them in 04, I think it was them, Killswitch Engage, and Slayer headlining (all original members it was badass).. Saw them a second time in 05 maybe 06. Even their album Remission was pretty different from most bands; even though it's a bit heavier than what they've released since. They were one of a few bands that were a pretty unique style and helped me start appreciating a lot more genres/subgenres. As I've got older I started enjoying anything from metal, death metal, classic rock, reggae, electronic, rap/hip hop (mostly older haha most new shit blows), etc.; and these guys definitely had an influence on that. Crazy it's already been about a decade since I last saw 'em, I'm overdue haha. I have to go one of the next times they're around Boston again. Really cool seeing how much their fanbase has grown/expanded, along with the band musically evolving. Seems all diff. ages are into em too. Shit, my dad liked them when I first showed him, he's who took me to see them with Slayer haha.. he prob enjoyed it as much as me.

@renspwn He's talking about the movie "River's Edge" starring Keanu Reeves and Crispin Glover. A classic film about a murder in a relatively small town, it seems lighthearted at some points but has quite a few serious undertones. The soundtrack is amazing - lots of Slayer and Hallow's Eve.
