Happy Mother’s Day!
First, to the mother of my children, love of my life, and my best friend - thank you! Everyday I watch you in awe of your tireless ability to put the needs of those you love above your own, often going unrecognized. You love so unselfishly. I have a hard time expressing the gratitude I feel knowing that my children will never wonder if they are loved. Their mom’s love for them is loyal, deep, and forever. Thank you Brooke, sincerely. And Happy Mother’s Day.
To my own mom, who after the passing of my dad, found herself a single mom in her 30’s with 5 children at home. I know it wasn’t easy, but I never wondered if I was loved. For that, I will always be grateful. I love you mom! Happy Mother’s Day!
To my mother-in-law, you have raised a woman that is as near to perfect as possible, and a reflection of you and your love. Thank you! I am so happy to always be “a good friend of the family”. Happy Mother’s Day!

I am 67 years old and I am missing both of my parents terribly ... I would tell them Mom or Dad ... "I love you more than you will ever know". Both of them have been gone 3+ yrs. Matt this is beautiful. I lost my Mother in August 2019. She was 88 years old. I am still devastated. She lived with my husband and I for the last 30 years...the dearest, kindest, wisest, most loving Christian woman. She was my chief supporter, my wise counsel, my best friend, and her love for me was unconditional. I miss her every day. I am broken without her. But I know she is with the Lord and that brings me comfort. God bless all Mothers. Treasure your Mother x

Lorraine, so sorry for your loss. I, too, lost my mom August 1, 2019. She was just shy of her 84th birthday in Sept. I miss her every day. But, like you, I know she with our Lord and Savior... and when I see her again...it'll be forever. Until then... they live on within us. We were blessed to have wonderful moms.

My sincerest condolences to you, Lorraine. My grandma Lois died in October 2019. She was 100 and was the greatest lady I've ever known. I know she was ready, and she was sharp as a tack and her joyful self until the end. She was able to know it was her time, gather all of us to her and tell us what we meant to her and to bless us. Her last words were to me the night before she passed in her sleep: "You go home. I believe I can rest now. I love you." I still miss her every day. Thank you, Mat, for the beautiful performance

Lorraine M My mom died July 2019. I feel exactly the same. She too was my best friend, wise, amazing bible teacher. I miss her more everyday. Our moms are having the greatest time now. I know & am comforted also by that. This song is truly moving. God bless you Lorraine, & Lauren.

Thomas Graves completely agree. I saw an early review of Sheeran’s album referencing that line as cheesy or hoaky. Does that person even *have* a soul? I’m not even particularly religious and I can see the transcendent beauty of those words.

This is so beautiful. My Dad died 4 weeks ago with 48 years completely unexpected. On the same day hours before he passed away I showed him your Cover of Evermore and he really liked it. He didnt had the chance to hear more from your music, but I’m sure he would have liked all your other covers, too.But now he’s gone and I really dont know how to live without him.I’m sitting here and crying, but off it all I want to say thank you to you and Savanna for sharing your music, which helps me every day to go on. My mom passed away on Feb 28, 2018, at the age of 88 and left a hole I my heart that will never be filled. I miss her every day. But I know she is at Home now singing Hallelujah! And I would not call her back from Heaven for anything. Thanks for sharing this particular song. Helps me cope with her loss.

Mat - Last night was Easter and I took a dinner over to my parents who are both in their late 80's and know they are close to that final milestone in this life. Before dinner, we exchanged Easter cards and I told mom I'd like her to hear this song now...saying "this will be me the day after I lose you, mom". I held her hand as she listened - when she choked up, so did I. She asked me to replay the song at least 15-20 times throughout the dinner. She cried each time and said, "Does this man know that's the most beautiful song I've ever heard... and his voice is so beautiful?" (She is asking for it on a CD.) We listened to all the duets too, and my father - a Barbershop quartet man - loved the music too. He choked up on a few songs too. Between each song, mom would say "Play that one about moms being angels again". Thank you for having the courage initially - to press 'play and record' or 'go live'. We want you to know you touched our lives last night. I think this song may have taken the fear of death away from her last night - as we talked about all the family members, which includes her son, that she'll be able to reconnect with but mainly that her FATHER will say 'Welcome Home'.

3 years for me too. My then 18 year old daughter had me listen to Ed Sheeran version and it almost broke me. Mat does a great job on it. I can almost make it through without a tear.

Lost my mom to Alzheimer's on Christmas Day 2007 and still miss her every day. Now I'm dealing with it again, with my husband. And this song brought tears to me too..thinking of the beautiful angel in the shape of my mom.

I so desperately want to be a mother but it hasn’t happened for me yet after many years. I’m 38 and my husband and I are on a difficult but rewarding journey. Every set back teaches us something although it’s hard at the time. Hopefully our next ‘lesson’ is as beautiful as your song (minus the theme of dying). Oh my goodness! This is one of my favorite songs and felt such excitement to see your post! Also reading the text, I couldn't help but cry. I too, lost my husband at age 32. I had 4 children ages 22mos to 7years and 5mos pregnant with our 5th. 13 years later I'm still praying that by the Grace of God they will turn out right with no father. You are an inspiration!!

My Aunt lost her husband in an accident while she was pregnant with her fourth son. She raised them alone, while working a rotating shift as a nurse at a paper mill. I am sure her mother helped out early on, but I was born 2 years after that fourth son.

My mother passed in 2014. After years of struggling in many ways and being delivered every time, she started saying Hallelujah every day, if not hourly❤😚🕊 I have always loved this song, but today I truly LISTENED! Mat, my mom passed away in 2004, and no matter how hard I try, I’ve never been able to make it through Mother’s Day without shedding a few tears. This year was no exception; however, they were good tears-the kind our eyes make when we think about all the ways our moms are our own personal angels on earth. Thank you for this reminder and for helping my heart sing hallelujah for the fact that she is back home in heaven, right where angels belong.

I want to add to the request for "Butterfly Kisses". My youngest daughter, who is no 40, and I danced together at her wedding to that song. Michael St.George I danced to that song with my dad in 1998, almost 22 years ago. I was 21. My dad just turned 88 years old and I cherish every second with him and so do my kids. He’s so wise and sweet and so loving.

Be sure to read his message... I remember the gift of my Mom, having her for the first 22 years of my life. While she left this earth in October 1981, she taught the lesson of how to love without condition. I always strive to do likewise.

I believe God is working through you to spread hope. I lost both my parents a few months ago. Savannah posted Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again on my dad's birthday, and then Matt singing Supermarket Flowers on Mothers Day is a song has always made me think of my mom. This is a special song for me because my mom who is 84 has lymphedema and we realized she isn’t able to live alone anymore. She goes to rehab in her assisted living only because otherwise she’s be in a hospital again. She’s unable to do for herself. It’s hard to see her like this because she raised us 7 kids and she’s always been the strong one. Her name is violet. We love her more than life. Thank you Mat for sharing your talent and gift of singing with us.

I lost my mother, my best friend, almost 40 years ago. I was young. She left an indelible impact on me nonetheless. I rarely cry over missing her still, but this made me sob. I miss you, momma. Thank you, Mat. The tears were attached to some very sweet memories of my mom.

I lost my 93 year-old mother on February 13. It was a difficult 5 weeks of hospice plus years of sadness in her state of dementia. Then came Covid-19 and we were thankful mom had gained her heavenly wings before the lonely confinement began. This song can sure bring out the tears and sadness, something I had bypassed for quite a while. Just realized how much I really miss her.....plus she loved flowers! Thank you once again for sharing your talents.

Very meaningful song. I think of when I was a little girl, my dad used to sing to me. Naturally, you may not be familiar with any of them, but think you would do a great job singing some of them to your daughters. ( Daddy’s Little Girl; The Girl That I Marry Must Be; Just For Old Times Sake; The Old Rugged Cross; etc.). FYI You are my son’s age. Being my dad passed away in 2022, I treasure these memories.

Our house too. My mom died a year ago April 24th. When my sister put the house up for sale we noticed my father had written on a concrete wall behind wood panels in Playroom, Justin 1955. That had been sealed since the house was built for them all those years ago. Now they are both laid together in one grave, best friends together for all those years. But I still miss them both so much! The slightest remembrance makes me tear up. They loved life so much. They loved each other so much. All their treasures are gone to us sibs different houses.

I lost my mom to that Alzheimer's on Christmas Day of 2007 but at least I could visit. That has to be very difficult. Can you do "window visits", just so she could see your face? Horrible times for those in nursing homes or other facilities. Prayers for you.

Donna Steinz I’m in the same boat as you, Donna. Both my Mom (93) & Dad (90) are in a memory care facility with Alzheimer’s. The only way to speak to them is through their window. The only consolation we have is that they are together (70 yrs).
