its 2020 and I just found out about Algiers. I know...you might think..dude where the hell you been...I live for music or music makes me live...so I'm not living under a rock. I have heard the name many times. yesterday I played the latest album and love it. Today its Underside of Power day. Thank you Mike C-Town at dead end hip hop for the turn on.

"The Underside of Power" was, to me, the most important album released in 2017; I have high hopes for "There Is No Year" and that hope was well-fed by this track

I like the vocal dynamics+range on this album, even slightly better than Underside. Sorry they could not tour. Hope to see them in 2021.

WOW that chorus is a KILLER!! Very John Barry in a way... calls to mind Magazine and Splinter period Sneaker Pimps (that massive, breathing compression really conjures the Abbiss wall of sound that is Splinter)... After the first couple of missteps off this record you were sort of cringing waiting for that chorus, but it delivers... you still feel like this band is holding back compared to prior records, but we shall see... looking forward to the rest of the tracks

@@clvrswine (laughing) every nitwit who can put a needle on a record is in the business of perceiving and contextualizing their own experience... my initial responses may differ from yours, but bands like this generate high expectations and the work winds up arriving in that context... and if you're a follower of the band, I'm sure you've noticed the tepid responses to the first few releases from this record... should those also stop, or just the ones with references you either don't understand or don't agree with?
