Well, hololive does have restrictions. There's a reason a bunch of them had to use PL accounts to collab with dokibird. But hololive is definitely more of a "no but" organization than a "just no" one.

Nijisanji doesn’t let livers use their PL accounts at all while holo lets them as long as they don’t outright say who they are in holo - tho 99.9% of the people already know and the fans could mention it. The only restriction I would say is the perms. There are so many games the talents want to play but can’t get perms for it so they don’t play on the main account but play it on their PL accounts.

Nah, at some point, a few Holostars (Astel is the one on the top of my head because I was on that stream and then watched the clip to read a better translation, but I think others did too?) back in late 2020, early 2021, about having permission troubles, wanting to do big events but being told no over and over, etc. Thing is....as much as it was painful to hear back then and made some fans angry on their behalf, it was because they were still relatively unknown and had just started to rise in popularity thanks to mainly Roberu's memes. Nowadays they have that freedom, but it came with MUCH grinding...meanwhile Hololive was already pretty well positioned by then so they weren't having those issues (which was also mentioned by the stars as a somewhat known fact, because before Hololive made it to the mainstream, they actually DID have similar problems). In the end, it's not so much a "holo lets them do anything" but rather that in that company, hard work eventually pays off and lets them achieve their dreams....which is more than we can say about some other vtuber agencies

The consequences of an NDA is what it means. This not just a Niji thing either. I've signed NDAs for dumber shit, like working at a restaurant food distributions warehouse in their logistics department. If they found out I divulged stuff like how truck routes were planned, or who our suppliers were I would have lost my job and ended up in court. Granted the chances of my job coming up in a discussion was low compared to a vtubr that may be trying to talk to people outside their agency for a collab or planning an event.

I mean as an ex-Niji fan, this is a pretty simple thing to interpret. Nina is pretty much known to be the liver that every Niji anti targets, harassed, and watches over like a hawk for any tiny, minute mistake to happen just so they can have an excuse to continue bullying her over it. She has enemies that's outside the Niji community, inside the Niji community from other livers who are parasocial as hell, not to mention that there are certain dramatubers who really have it out for the branch for some goddamn reason and will not hesitate to make a mountain out of a molehill of her mistakes which would, in turn, feed into the harassment she is already facing. 🙃 It is so amusing to me how everyone conveniently forgets how persecuted she was within Nijisanji by people that aren't from within the company, and are now wondering why she felt so isolated and scared to reach out then when, realistically, she will never be able to know who will turn coat on her just for their own profit, simply because IT IS profitable to contribute to her downfall. This isn't even going into what could've been happening to her behind the scenes either within the company, but knowing her abilities as a social butterfly, I'd reckon that she handled it pretty well. I adored the person behind Matara, before or during Vshojo, simply because of the strength and perseverance she exuded through it all. And I feel like that's what makes her so respected both at her current and previous job too, because the reality of what she had been going through isn't that secretive. If you had kept your eyes open and read behind the lines during her cry for help, you would understand that the path she had walked to get to where she is now wasn't always so black and white to the world outside of Niji.

You already got a few answers, but to give a more concrete example: Yozora Mel from Hololive JP just went through this a few months back - though it was never explicitly stated *what*, she shared something NDA-covered with someone she 'trusted', who it then got back to Hololive management who had no choice but to request Mel graduate. She trusted this person with sensitive information - sensitive information she admitted she shouldn't have - and it blew up in her face. For a company like the one Matara used to work at, I can only imagine how much red tape there is behind the scenes to make her that scared

As well, Doki did say she faced harassmaent from fellow livers, and that social cliques existed in the company. Given the spread of rumors, and info Mata said in the past as Nina, its possible that most of the people she colabed with, espcially the Etheria girls, were likely in one of these cliques. She did say she had trouible connecting with them at first. And given her highly social nature, she likely knew who was in what cliques, and who to not trust with sensitive info. We know she still talks to Rosemi, which only throws more suspision towards her former gen mates.

more than likely yeah as the matara has done a number of collabs with Lime, so the algorithm recommends her to yo u eventually. you'll probably have bricky and kiara getting recommended if you don't watch them, as her and mint talk about them a lot and have overlap in viewers now. possibly heavenly father and the russian badger.

This is not necessarily a Nijisanji problem. There are many contracts with NDAs where you can't tell everything. Protection of trade secrets is in pretty much every contract. At least in my country. And Vtuber is a job where the risk of accidentally leaking something is higher. Vshojo is simply set up differently in this area.

Well, they also seem to be aiming for quantity over quality. They churn out so many talents, but don't seem to take the time to develop those they already have.

It's a the difference between a company that's controlled by the workers and one that's controlled by the managers.

To be fair, they are two entirely different business models: media company versus management agency. You are right that a media company owns the product and can control it, but there is a major difference between the product and the talent. Something Holo seems to understand and Niji fails to grasp. An agency, like VShojo, doesn't "own" any of it (or rather, if they do it's split ownership) but acts more like facilitators to assist the talent in doing what the talent wants.

It's weird to me how a year ago people were saying it was the end of VShojo due to three of their talents leaving and now they are flourishing and people have only positive things to say.

definitely agree. like i’m not gonna ignore the elephant sized glaring issues of niji, but most of what she said is fairly standard. now it absolutely sucks their nda’s are so restrictive, but she did well to follow them to keep herself out of possible trouble since she knows a) she’s very social and would eventually talk about work and b) given other recent events she was totally fair in not wanting to risk someone saying something she mentioned in confidence and it biting her. her personality was just too big for niji (i don’t mean this at all in a bad way) and it’s good she’s in a company where she can flourish in work and not have to dim herself down

Rushia had been terminated for breaking NDA (among other things), despite being the most profitable talent and a lot of goodwill inside the company. Yozora Mel was terminated as well later, also for breaking NDA, despite being a long time veteran.

That's actually VShojo's tagline, not Nijisanji's. Still, Nijisanji back in the day got lumped in with VShojo as the "agencies supporting talent freedom" that give their talents no limits as to what they can do. As it turns out though, at least in Nijisanji's case, they're not really as free as they pretend themselves appear to be.

In a sense it would be impossible for Nijisanji EN to run as an American company, specifically because they are link and subsidiary of Any Color, in order for Niji EN to run like American companies and agencies do, they would have to legally cut ties with AnyColor and be incorporated into a company present in the US, unless AnyColor as a company is incorporated, established and registered inside the US, which means abiding to American Laws for running a company, employees payment and taxation which in of itself would mean a shit ton of problems for AnyColor since job practices in Japan clash with that of America. This things are really complicated but work is work, is not so deep, some people work nicely in Japanese structures but not on Americans, vice versa and sometimes both, but work is work at the end of the day it should be on ourselves to do a little research before signing contracts for a seat in a company, because it's going to be your job, if you are not informed on how things are run in your future job the stress and anxiety will eat you apart, granted work related things in Japan are not as pretty as people think, sure there's big names here and sometimes the companies run wonderfully but they literally tell you that if "you're not the right cut, you're never gonna get a job", hopefully things get better, there's been some protests and petitions to change things but it's not enough there's a lot of people that like how things are run, even young people, some of the older generations feel that change is pointless because they don't see why things should change after they endured part of it, but things could definitely be better 😮‍💨

Right? Cover likely has a lot of the same restrictions. Frankly there are a lot of things that could in some circles be absolutely fine to say as a meaningless joke but would be ridiculous stupid to say in a collab with a nijisanji or holo talent. Making sure the other menderes of the collab are aware of this makes sense even if it is ultimately going to be continuing for the corporate talent in question when it comes to making friends.

Being so restrictive and strict with NDAs to the point that your talents cannot make friends outside of the company is still incredibly messed up. Sure they never straight up said "You can't have other friends", but making it so incredibly difficult to collab, work with, or be friends with talents outside of niji that its just simply not worth the effort gets the same outcome. Maybe not outright evil, but still thunderously stupid and incompetent.
