I bought a WRECKED Ferrari F430 to rebuild!! But the build was a lot harder than i first thought! Here's every single episode I filmed rebuilding the Ferrari in one full video. Enjoy.

I bought a totalled car in the US and fixed it in my driveway because of you! I had numerous "oh shit, what have i done" moments. But to my complete amazement, I successfully repaired the car, and drive it daily now! One of my proudest moments, at 55 years old.

Right... this video hit me pretty hard. I worked hard and saved for over 4 years to fulfil my father's dream. A convertible Mustang in wine red. But unfortunately he didn't survive his heart attack. Half a year longer and I could have fulfilled his dream. Spend time with your parents, it can be over quickly!

WOW, Dude. Love that you gave that car to your dad...you are the mann. I am literally in tears. My dad died 38 years ago when I was 15. When I bought my first 4x4 pick up truck I cried because I would have loved to take my dad on a drive to the beech. We used to fish a lot together, but couldn't afford a beech vehicle at the time. It's great that you guys work together...from South AFRICA.

I watched every minute of this video twice, and think it's amazing! What better ending than to give your father the car! My father and I had a plan to rebuild an old muscle car, after he retired soon...he had race cars he sold when I was born...he was a diesel mechanic by trade, and grew up in a transmission shop his father owned. I grew up in a garage, helping, learning, and doing routine maintenance, and aftermarket parts once I was driving. My father had a severe stroke, just 6 weeks before retirement, and one a year to the day another stroke, that completely debilitated him. He has dementia now, and is in a rest home. Watching your father in the garage with you through all your videos, reminds me of all the great times I had growing up working on cars, and time we spent together. I just wonder sometimes and especially seeing content like this, what would have decided to build, and the sense of accomplishment at the end...✌️

I watch this a couple times a month still and it never gets old. Watching you and your dad reminds me of my dad me me working on cars, moths, quads, anything with a motor growing up and especially rite at the end of his life. Matt and myself have the tattoos with metal punk rock rap vibe lol who both rode BMX and his relationship is just like mine was with my dad. It's actually crazy that even our fathers are the same with always happy and positive emotions and that love to be around and help there son. Its like iv know your dad for decades but never met him formally. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to watch you guys and have that feeling I use to have with my dad. Not to mention Matt came out of no where and became my second favorite channel besides Cleetus and iv been with that channel from the beginning also but honestly love you both just the same so technically both channels are my favorite really. And I have got to be honest as someone who has been super addicted to cars from a baby with being around it all the time with my dad, I am very judgemental when it comes to automotive channels with people who are new or just try to find a way for views and makes it a job and not a obsession wich I guess is OK but to me it's a deep deep love with automotive mechanics and design down to the air freshener lol sorta jk. But you came in saying you are learning and seem to actually love it and love learning how things work and how to repair them and that made me instantly hooked. It had the really good car content with a really good family and I learned that I was actually interested in watching you better your skills then noticed that you had amazing taste when it comes to modifying cars, then I loved see your dad on the channel, the content keept getting better and better with genuine good ideas that I don't think really anybody else could at the level you were, and It just snowballed into watching the channel everyday and even using it for background noise or for the animals when I'm gone and it just goes well with that too lol. The biggest thing really is I feel like you really appreciate what has manifested out of hard work and sacrifice especially when that can make ppl feel like they are owed it and now means nothing but a step to the next big thing, and ppl who will never have the opportunity to even work on there car much less modifying one in general even a 95 civic take that really to heart as well as me too seeing the builds that will never come close to my abilities and you can literally see it in yours and your dads and friends faces that you guys are very appreciative of the opportunity and that just gives the people like me who will never have the opportunity respect and as someone like that we say thank you. I mean I would honestly work for someone like you or cleet or a opportunity like that with genuine good people for the rest of my life for free just to be able to build and be around it and some people don't realize there is ppl like me who mean that completely and would sleep in a tent and find a way to eat every now and then for the same life there literally living as a job and that is the cherry on top to this channel I feel like that just makes it so good and addictive. Obviously I know Matt will never read this but maybe a up and comer will and see what a actual fan of this genera thinks and feels and uses it to keep their mind on track and stay relatable to the fans even if they get as big as Adam lz and never get out of touch with fans and reality. Thanks for letting me live through your experiences and hope it continues for a long long time. Also a big thank you to Mr. Sr. Armstrong for being a real OG you deserve so much more.

Hey Matt. I follow you araound for quite a while now. As a car enthusiast I think its more than logical to follow your channels. Usually I do not interact a lot with youtubers, being more of a "quiet" viewer, but let me say you I really appreciate your work and admire how you and your dad tackle all those challenges with all those different cars. YOu guys are doing an awesome Job. Also for the rest of the Team and Hannah, but I really wish you all the best for all projects. Having never had a "real" dad that would ever had encouraged me to work on things like this makes me realize ( with my now 40) years that I might have missed a lot over the years. Not complaining, because I was used to be on my owen since my 16th year of life but still this shows how it should be. I´m sure you guys had your fights and differences as well but you stick together and work on those sometime impossible challenges to make it work. Thank you so much for that content. Maybe we meet one day just to exchange some words maybe not. Still want to say, thank you so much. Much love and appreciation from Germany.

Damn, Mat!!!! 1hr23mins in and I have already learned soooo much from this video. Not least of which is the love and respect you have for your dad, your determination to see an almost impossible job to a successful conclusion, and the friends and fans you have to lend a hand, donate an engine, loan a torque press, share an internal engineering document etc etc. Amazing work. Inspiring! And I don't even drive an ICE! You have a new subscriber. More updates as I watch the rest... 2h09mins you are a true engineer. Despite not having the technical training or manual for the machine, you work from first principles to solve issues and you apply logic, research and testing to confirm a hypothesis and find a solution. 2h26mins NEVER EVER SAY YOU DON'T HAVE TALENT! You lack formal Ferrari training and documentation. Talent? You've got fxxx tons. Your dad and your mates too. Anyone else rebuilt a Ferrari engine, gearbox, and associated dependencies on their first Ferrari? Talent? Pluuuleeeeze. 2h41mins who knew dry ice could be used for degreasing and cleaning? 2h53mins THE END. Superb. Simply superb.

Dude, I'm late because of you... actually because your dad, he´s the one to blame for missiing that part of the engine LOL. Thank you so much for the entertaintment, I did pass half of the video thinking how I was not going into tears about your father-son connection, but at the end....I couldn't resist any longer. It's amazing how a senior folk enlights himself when he is trully happy. for moments he was a child again and you must be so proud for giving him that. Brilliant job though, a trully mechanic always finds out a way to overcome his problems. I did work with my dad, we were mechanics in the rural/construction area (CASE, MASSEY FERGUSON, Etc) and I'm only mentioning this because all gerabox that we did repair act exact same way that one. The inertia keeps it going even when it's not in gear. When its mounted and on the floor it can't overcome the weigth and its not noticeable. Also you did the best choice to set the right pignion-crown set because as my knowledge goes they really are a kit, they're build for working togheter. I've build so many engines and gearboxes one for two broken ones I did forget, that's the way you know what you're doing. Congrats|

Nice! Hand lapping the valve seats and hand honing the sleeves; on a Ferrari.. I'm sure there's a bunch of old school tech haters that will chime in. They may be great on a keyboard but when it comes down to turning a wrench they have no experience at all. In my opinion, the satisfaction of actually doing the work adds to the overall confidence in the build, or any repair. It also gives you added knowledge and insight if something goes wrong, making it easier to fix it and do it right. Learning from your mistakes is an important part of personal growth.(sorry spell check isn't working and in a hurry) Great vid!

I don't understand why you would refer to them as haters if they chime in. My uncle, was a master mechanic for Ford his entire life, would say to me, "so, you put round rings into an oval cylinder!!!" Now to me, I would accept this car as being a success proving it was a viable car, that needs an immediate rebuild of engine and transaxle. In fact would not put ANY mileage on the transaxle before a proper rebuild. Shims and specs that go to +/- 0.003" and the like, there is a reason these things are measured so precisely, a human hair is 0.007". After 35 years of building cars, tractors and all manor of things, I still do not build my own rear differentials. And I am currently building a 2006 Impala into an All Wheel Drive with a 600 HP (@crank, not wheels) LS engine. All said They did a remarkable job and by any account a success. Just making this video at such quality is top level. Those few people like Mat are so valuable to giving people of all ages inspiration, and the courage to try. The most valuable thing he may demonstrate is "TRY" and if you fail, try AGAIN. The way he felt when that engine fired the first attempt, I know that feeling, and you can't ever buy that feeling. The world is a better place just having Mat and his family and friends in it. :)

I own a 430 converted manual. You did a fantastic job on rebuilding the car. Very heart warming you gave the car to your dad. Love that you did that. You are a nature at mechanics. I would had just reconditioned the original rims and put new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires on the car. Most Ferrari buyers want the original factory rims. You will always have value in the car because the car is an original manual vs a converted manual. Things that will hurt the car’s value is the damage to the car, track car, high mileage and a different engine.. Do they have CarFax in your area? I would also repaint the front inlets to the stock dark gray. It looks more like a factory stock F430 when the inlets are the original dark gray. I liked you kept the original seats. Original seats are super comfortable. In the end I do not think you will ever sell the car because you gave this car to your father which is special and I think the car needs to stay in your family. Hope your dad has a blast with your car. I am about the same age as your dad and I know he will enjoy the car. Once he gets the car paint corrected he will have one sweet car.

Hey Mat, just had my KIA Sportage 2001 worked on. No, not quite a super car, but I did see a hack you might like for the future. It has to do with the sealing of valves and whether they leak. The valves nest into an area on the cylinder head that is concave. The mechanic took some solvent (thinner) and poured it in to this concave area to the brim. He let it sit there watched for the level to stay the same or drop. One valve lost lost fluid immediately, the others slightly slower. He said this is a quick test to see if the seal between the valve and the head is leaking. Silly third world hack, but he identified the bad cylinder. Great segment on the 430!
