The camera often pans to Richard when the single women are introducing themselves.

At 4:30 Gene calls Elaine "Joyce". She's so used to it that it doesn't even matter anymore 😂 Although Elaine was my MG crush. So I can always tell the difference 💘

Elaine is wearing an iconic piece of jewelry..... A sterling cuff bracelet designed by Elsa Peretti for Tiffany's in the early 70s.

@@pencils812 it's called the "Bone Cuff" molded in the anatomical shape of the wrist. Tiffany still makes it.

H/H match update: ... Today's action: Our champion easily wins her fourth game. Today's (first) audience match question: "Cat's ________" (My thoughts: Meow, Pajamas, Paw) The celebs: Richard (Pajamas), Fannie (Meow), Brett (Paw) The choice: Pajamas The answers: Eye, Paw, Meow Yikes, that's the second time she's struck out on the audience match! Well, it's hard to blame a contestant for taking Richard's suggestion. In the past, even Gene has said Richard's never wrong on the audience match, and Richard has been known to (jokingly?) scold contestants who don't take his answer. ("Why didn't you trust me? We would've been playing for $5,000!") But the reality is that trusting Richard sometimes pays off, but sometimes it doesn't: Add today to the list of recent shows when Richard was chosen for the first suggestion but gave an answer that wasn't even on the board: 901, 902, 906, 911, 914, 921, 923, 927, 949, 975, and now 977. No H/H match this time. ~~~ Our challenger soundly defeats the champion who departs after four victories and $6,150 in winnings. Today's (second) audience match question: "________ Paul" (My thoughts: Saint, Apostle, St. Vincent de) The celebs: Richard (Pope), Fannie (Peter), Scoey via Brett (Saint) The choice: Peter The answers: Pope, Peter, Saint (Kudos to Scoey and Brett for coming up with the top answer in third position!) Well, we have an attractive young female contestant who chose Richard for the first audience match suggestion (although she didn't take his answer). She'll probably choose him for the head-to-head, although Fannie is a remote possibility... Well, paint me yellow and call me a cab! She does pick Fannie. No hesitation. Stats: Fannie has matched 13 of 28 total H/H questions (46.4%). She last played in episode 972 (no match), 956 (no match), and 798 before that (match). For the sake of comparison: Charles has matched 33 of his 66 attempts (50.0%), Richard has matched 266 of his 636 (41.8%), and Brett has matched 28 of her 68 attempts (41.2%). Elaine matched in her one and only attempt, and Scoey hasn't been chosen for a head-to-head question yet. Today's H/H question: " ________ Television" (I'll say color. It was still new enough to be a big thing. Second choice? Live television.) Fannie debates for maybe two seconds and begins writing. As she finishes, I see Richard's hand holding a card in front of her, apparently with his suggestion. (Wait, doesn't he play the H/H often enough? Can't he take a break for today?) Whatever was on Richard's card gave Fannie some pause. She looked like she was tempted to change her answer, but doesn't. She files her card. Ding. "All I could think of was 'color' television," she says to an enthusiastic round of applause. Well, she matches me, 46 years after the fact, which is worth absolutely nothing. Fannie's answer, however, could be worth $2,500, which was a decent chunk of change back then. Let's see what Fannie's mind came up with... Yes! "Color"! Fannie scores her 14th H/H match today. ~~~Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts). TIE: Charles - 50.0% (33 wins in 66 attempts). TIE: Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts). Fannie - 48.3% (14 wins in 29 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 41.8% (266 wins in 636 attempts). Brett - 41.2% (28 wins in 68 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 977, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, and 910. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!") -- Also, note that episode 849 was never produced. Additionally, these stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969.

Is it just me or was Scoey actually mad? He didn’t look happy the rest of the game after he returned

I love Brett Somers but I dislike it when she "steals" CNR's lines like, "We're gonna get letters" and "Take this to Window 4" (after using the felt pen to stamp a card). She also mimics Fannie's over-exuberant delivery of Super-Match answers. There. Thanks. Even though no one reads these, I've been wanting to get that off my chest for years. LOL!

"Coloured Television" These days that phrase would be redundant. Gee, I wonder if this show wasn't recorded some time ago. Hmm.
