We're excited to unveil our new video, "Matcha: The Way of Tea". A travel style mini-documentary that uncovers the history, production and future of matcha tea. This spectacular journey takes you from amazing organic mountain tea fields, stunning forestscapes, and the natural spring fed wells of Kagoshima, to the bustling tea shop filled streets of ancient Uji City, Kyoto. As a child of a Japanese mother who was/is first generation Issei, she did speak English very well to me. However, I was accustomed to how she spoke and all my friends or people in general, would turn to me to "translate" her English into English . She would get very embarrassed and hurt by some of the comments people would say:(. She eventually started saying to the offensive people ,"What iz the mattah wit you? Can't ah you undahstand Engurish?" Aha! Way to go mom;) I miss her terribly! Anyhow, I see nothing wrong with the subtitles. I think it is not offensive and it is meant to be helpful to those not accustomed to hearing people with accents. This is just my personal opinion and coming from someone born in Texas! With that being said, I will try out this particular brand and look forward to seeing some benefits. Blessings to everyone🌸

thank you for that. we decided subtitles were preferred over voice overs to keep in line with the 'peacefulness' of the video. Your mother had a good sense of humor~

Yes the subtitles were meant for exactly that. Mr. Sugimoto speaks English quite well, but he was worried about his strong accent, so they were added to help all understand, just in case. He was very pleased with the video.

Hello! I really like your video. Can I use it for a term project (an exhibition about Matcha) for one of my course? I will add your channel and the youtube link for copyright. Thank you so much!

even if poor quality matcha has less theanine than high quality matcha, does it still have WAY more than brewing green tea / white tea? or is it a significant reduction?

the subtitles at 13:35 were absolutely not necessary ... I don't even know why they would do that to the poor man... he spoke English very well. I hate people who put unnecessary subtitles.

The White Lotus i think it had to do with post production and an actual footage's lack of audio level. It's too low to be heard if observer would watch it on fixed sound level on TV, yet it would sound too robotic if sound level of that interview would be balanced to every other clip evenly. That's why I think person who was in charge of post production had decided to add subtitles with no intent to point out his accent. He indeed talked very clearly, yet audio levels were too low. You're welcome!

Mr. Sugimoto was worried about his accent and wanted subtitles. It was meant to be helpful, not insult anyone. Hope that explains it.
