Matchbox restoration Mercury Commuter No 73. Regular Wheels and Superfast version. Diecast model

Today I present the renovation of the Mercury Commuter in the video. I got my models from a friend in Belgium. The video is subtitled in multiple languages. For subtitles in english at the bottom of the movie press C on computer or three dots on mobile in video.
There are two models of this car in the company, which was produced in the years 1969-1973. The first version is the Regular Wheels version and since 1970 Lesney has switched to the Superfast version. In the last year of production, the model got rails on the roof and a sticker on the hood. The color scheme has changed from metallic green to red.I painted cars in factory colors. I made missing boxes for them, once I opened the bull sticker to the red version. I thank you for watching. Excellent restorations. A triple treat! Your replacement tyres for the Regular wheels are really good. Interesting to note the variations in the castings: the ribs in the roof of the 4mm thick wheel Superfast. I have never seen that red variant. I just did the police version #55. Matchbox changed the interior piece: no dogs in the cargo area - radio and traffic cones instead. The #55 has 2 rivet posts under the cargo area. I noticed all 3 Commuter wagons have 1 rivet post under the cargo area. Unfortunately, I will have to paint my wagon again. We have just had about 1/2 years rainfall in 3 days, and the humidity went up to near 100%. This plays havoc when trying to spray enamel paint! "Orange Peel" finish on most of the model.

Everything is correct. I even noticed that in this red model the glass is used from the police model in the film you can even see such an embossing on the signal lights.

War ja echt eine hartnäckige Scheibe in den einen Wagen. Hatte echt gedacht, guck mal dem Paul bricht gleich die Scheibe kaputt, ist ja zum Glück nicht passiert. Habe mir jetzt von Revel auch eine Spritzpistole und Schleif und Feinbohrerset, Werkzeug und co. besorgt, ich hoffe ich kann auf dich zurückgreifen wenn ich mal Fragen habe und Hilfe bei Restaurierungsvorgänge brauche.

Ich verwende hauptsächlich Acryl-Autolacke. Dies sind professionelle Lacke, die für normale Autos verwendet werden. Ich kaufe sie in Form von kleinen Ausbesserungen oder in 400 ml Sprays. Manchmal mische ich auch Basisautolacke, um den gewünschten Farbton zu erhalten. Besten Wünsche

So, is it better to just leave them the at the bottom of a toy box, over-painted and broken, with missing parts and scraped metal? I think the majority of owners, kids or otherwise, would rather have these three lovingly-repaired/repainted models, ready for another fifty years of play. If you can find a perfect mint, in mint box original, all ready to sit on a shelf and gather climate-controlled dust for more sterile, fun-free years, then I wish you luck with that. However, criticising others for not doing it 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒘𝒂𝒚 is unfair, an-necessary and quite honestly, shows that you just don't "get it".
