Matchbox restoration Rolls Royce Silver Shadow Coupe nr 69 diecast car

This model was made by the Lesney factory in 1969. In my version, Rolls Royce did not have a folding roof, it had crooked wheel axles and a broken window. I have added and installed all these parts in the model. Metallic blue was very difficult to do. It required painting first with silver and then with a blue colored car varnish.

Superb restoration. It's a great model of the Rolls convertible. You are showing the way for restoration of Superfasts. There are spares available for Regular Wheels Matchbox, but almost no parts are made for Superfast. Only for some of the Regular Wheels models that continued into the Superfast range are supplied, and only for body parts. Nothing yet available for the chassis: wheels etc.

@@PaulRestorer Faktycznie było! Drugi był Ford Group 6. Twoje filmy to dla mnie, i pewnie dla wielu, swoista podróż w czasie. Pamiętam większość swoich żelaźniaków, kilka jeszcze mam, w tym Land Rovera Safari, Matrę Simcę Rancho czy Fiata 131 Abarth, wiele, jak AMX Javelin czy Datsun 126X, niestety się zawieruszyły. I've been watching your Videos for a while now,and I'm amazed that some of the cars look like they are beyond repair,but somehow you manage to restore to factory new conditions. It must be challenging to "Colour Match" to the original specifications some.of.the models.seem to.have a unique Colour.. Brilliant job

My favorite car,and still have.Painted metal flake blue.Windshield gone about 1973,painted shortly after..Mines a deeper blue than 'comment",but of my 370+collection,this was faved,and second longest held.66 Galaxie fire Chief without windows painted same blue is oldest from me.(Have allot of solid axles from late 50-60's bought at a sale too).Most are hard axle from Leslie for Matchbox

Interesting how you blended translucent blue paint with clear coat, then layered it bit-by-bit over a silver coat. Great way to match the original hue and finish.

It would be PET: Polyethylene terephthalate, clear plastic sheet. Same plastic most soda or bottled water bottles are made from.

That's right, it's the same material as for mineral water bottles. I buy them in 0.5 mm thick panels. It forms very nicely when hot. Best wishes

I got one of these as a kid but when I pulled it out of the box it was gold instead of blue. Still a good looking car but I would have preferred a blue one like the one on the box.

Ich hatte zwei oder drei von diesem Modell, war eines der besten auf der Looping Bahn und bei den auslauf Rennen, wer also am weitesten rollt wenn er vom Katapult abgeschlossen wird, da ich die Modelle von meinem drei Jahre älteren Bruder geerbt hatte kannte ich ihn nie in neu, aber dieser ist besser als neu! 😍
