But even he has had issues with starz. He wanted to leave several times, even things like their season finale getting leaked. These things don’t happen for other shows or other networks but it happened to power? It’s not just the creation, it’s the distribution. Others control so much of the distribution. If they really say no, there’s basically nothing she can do on her own

@@WatchTheClipsFilm-Tv 50 Cent had so many issues with Starz, he damn near took it PUBLIC to air them out and have their exec meetings probably take a different turn due to truly understanding public opinion, demand, psychology, which 50 CENT DOES. Starz actually "tried to play him" as he would let them tell IT, back in the earlier parts of the tv show "Power" before all the subsequent spinoffs, of its success. They allegedly did a lot of the things that they try to do with Black talent, Black production, in Hollywood, but 50 Cent aligned himself different, did some UNEXPECTED things, such as making posts directing ATTENTION towards it, etc. What happened with Taraji wasn't like that, it was an interview, where she "broke down" and I think that keeps getting lost on some folks. She didn't go on a media tirade to do something to "EXPOSE" the poor treatment. She was probably on set shocked at the mistreatment or blatant disregard for a trained actress that's been On tv (bad or good movies, tv series, etc) ALL this TIME and just was gonna hold it in. Then came the interview, no less with Oprah BFF, and ISH got emotional. This witnessed "breakdown" speaks EVEN more to the psychological conditions that clearly RELEGATE someone to second tier level if that, on set compared to a white counterpart in the same ROLE. If we are comparing 50 Cent, he aligned himself with Eminem in in a way that probably actually REMOVED BARRIERS, just by WAY of EMINEM BEING A WHITE FACE. Let's REALLY TALK ABOUT IT. If you were in music FIRST, like 50 CENT, nestled between Dr. Dre who used to be managed when in the group N.W.A. by Jerry Heller, ANOTHER WHITE FACE, then how do you figure THOSE TWO (Eminem and Dr. Dre) don't position 50 Cent-armed with his trial by fire talent, poise, defiance, never mind his story of surviving 9 bullet wounds and one STILL fragmented in his face, FOR SUCCESS??? Exactly.

It really doesn't, but folks like to DEFLECT or get off topic for SURE. If VLAD ACTUALLY could discuss the very question that was about why she was crying like that, and the clear PILED up emotion this Black actress of over 10 years has been "dealing" with, then maybe that would actually make Vlad be silent, because he is NON-BLACK trying to compare his GRIT to a whole situation that has been systemic. "Systemic" hits different, DUH, it's why folks actually have sympathy for historic CRISES that Jews been through, because they were systemic, met to demean, dehumanize, destroy. How can someone come from a history that has oppression, but then behave AS THOUGH they don't "get it?" Should the same DARE apply? That exterminating a race was "business????" Vlad doesn't understand making a movie isn't as simple as putting together mixtapes and throwing them out there. The major production companies have a strangle hold on the game and always have, your movie won't even make it to the big screen without them, or if it does it'll only be for a week or 2. Most Independent films go straight to a streaming site and they're going to pay you want they want, which most of the time isnt much.

Indie movies are a thing and completely outside the majors. Independent distributors exist too. Also as a producer she could pay herself, and have the majors only distribute her films. There's literally nothing stopping her from producing, writing, directing, and starring in her own films.

educate yourself about how the movie business works. See who the biggest paid actress and actors are and how they made most of their money. It wasnt from upfront money. Tom hanks is regarded as the BACKEND King. he takes very little on some movies and gets a percentage on the back end on sales. Same for Julia Roberts. These people use backend deals. Taraji doesnt understand the movie BUSINESS and probably has bad representation. Shed rather take a salary then ownership of the project.

Tyler Perry would have NO issues with funding and providing a distribution and platform for anything Taraji would want to do. @Sreed8392 and once the content is made, how will she get it to you? First things first, she has to find a script or a novel and have someone turn it into a script. That's the first batch of money. Then, she'll have to find actors. Then, they'll have to pay the actors and crew, and get a director, etc. You want Taraji to pay for all of this when you don't ask other actors to do it. Why is it always the Black ones that have to do it?

He's not saying it's easy. Nothing worth pursuing is easy. It takes a lot of hard work, question is do you want to put in that work or not? Taraji could finance her own projects meaning she would need to devote more time and energy, or she can continue being an actor for hire for the easier but smaller paycheck, but if she chooses the easy route, can she really complain then? That's like someone working a 9-5 complaining they don't make enough money. Anyone can start their own business, but will everyone actually do it?

Both are right. Taraji can create her own projects and have a great share of the profits. But Math is also might be on to something in that will movie studios support her? How many theaters will take the film? Will she get crazy product placement? Who knows.

I don't know if VLAD realizes this but most films lose money. It's hard to go independent because you still need the studios to handle distribution which is a very difficult thing to understand. (Paramount, Universal, Disney, ect...) Studios typically make up those losses with mega franchises the Avengers and Star Wars. Even if you get a deal to put it on a streaming service, they would likely rip you off with the deal and take th elionshare of the profits. DREAMWORKS is really the only company able to operate outside the studio system in 60 + years. But that took the great minds and finances of David Geffen, Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg...music and film monsters that put together like a billion dollars. Even Tyler Perry needs a major distributor to put out his prjects and he usually gets it from one of the light weights like LIONSGATE FILMS. Likely why nobody gets mega pay days doing Tyler Perry films. And Vlad has Taraji a little overrated if he thinks she best friends with all of these A-list actors who will work on the cheap. Most actors are your "friend" until the job is over.

@@darklandinc she got 175k an episode for empire, it's on a pay service, she got half a mil for The Family that Preys and it flopped. She got 150 k for a minor role in Benjamin Button. She has been fairly paid for her gross in movies, and her role in the big ones. Maybe take some back end. Black people are definitely under paid, but acting is a different animal, and she's been compensated. It's hard to scream racist when two or three of the highest paid actors are black. You don't know how many or what kind of obligations Taraji has. Not all millionaires are created equal. What if she has disabled family members who need hundreds of thousands of dollars yearly to house or surgeries. Maybe Taraji has student loan debt and a family member in debt to a mob boss lol. Taraji could make her own content. Thats true. Especially in today's time. I don't know if its realistic for everyone to do that and be just as big as any other Hollywood film though. The point is that she and many like her aren't being treated fairly for the work that they're putting in. If everyone had the idea to make their own business and never work for anyone else ever again then their would be no business. Someone has to work for someone. Vlad has a minor point. To make a movie costs $$, if Taraji is complaining about not getting paid enough i doubt she has the finances to fund an entire movie herself. Plus depending on what kind of movie she is trying to create (drama, comedy, etc) is gonna depend on if she can get some funding from someone on the outside. And yes Taraji does know a lot of famous people but for them to do for the actor's minimum is gonna take an AMAZING script. But its not as easy as he's making it seem, actors have limited time in their schedules especially the big name ones so it just may not work out in the end.

Yup. A lot of A-list actors---even if they want to do th eprject---are tied up for like the next 18 months. And rich legends like Jack Nicholson work when they feel like nowadays. Hard to get them out of bed (unless you have a history/real clsoe relationship with them.)

@bidilo764 I totally agree but depending on what type of movie she would want to make may determine the amount of $$ investors would give to her. Not saying she needs 100 million like a Marvel movie. But independent studios and financiers would definitely offer something a lot smaller, and again the script would have to be great. I just watched American Fiction this weekend, GREAT MOVIE with a smaller budget, independent finance studio, and a great cast
