What if every kid said math is play? In this interesting and engaging talk, educator Matthew Oldridge shares his thoughts on why when it comes to teaching young (and old) students math, fun and play should be at the core of it. Grabbing socks out of the drawer in the morning or the rolling of dice are just some of the ways Matthew's talk is able to show how we can improve the teaching of math with making it more relevant to learners. Matthew is a father, mathematics educator, TEDx speaker and thinker. He believes that math should be full of surprise, wonder, and play for all kids. What if every kid said, "math is surprise and wonder, and playing with numbers"? What if every kid said, "math is play"? All kids should feel the power and pleasure of playing with big and powerful mathematics ideas. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
