In this lesson, we will do a physics experiment that involves the heat transfer between two materials. Here we put water inside a balloon place the balloon in a candle flame. When the water is present, it absorbs the heat and thus the balloon never pops because the rubber doesn't rise very much in temperature. This is because of the specific heat of water and its heat capacity is very high, so the water absorbs the heat from the candle flame.

Absolutely fabulous! This is a demonstration that should be introduced in 3rd or 4th grade in order to peak interest in the sciences. I'll rehearse this demonstration before I introduce to the class. I don't like the POP of balloons so I'll need to desensitize myself first. Thank you very much!

@Math and Science Hi Jason, I recently watched a video in slow motion where they took a steel ball and compressed it under a hydraulic press, what happend was that the ball turned red and just before the brink of exploding there was an beautiful red aura that almost similar to plasma, but I don’t know the physics behind it. Obviously a huge amount of heat is generated due to the tremendous pressure built up inside the ball, but what is this amazing red/orange plasma thing arouse the ball? Thanks for any reply!

That question is as old as when human walk in two legged from four legged animal. Ask first what makes a planet turn on its axis. In law of motion, imbalance mass weight inhance motion. Mercury, Venus, moons others you name it does not revolve on its axis. Planets full of atmospheric properties, the expansion and shrinking propelled by sun heat phenomena turn its surface imbalance, force the other side to move, enhance revolution. This is a crude explaination, I'm waiting what yours.
