For those complaining: it’s a film adaptation of the *stage production*. Not a remake of the 1996 movie

It amazes me the people who either don’t know there is already a musical based on the classic Roald Dahl novel and that this movie is based on that musical, or who think this is a remake of the 1996 Danny Devito film. The creator of the musical said that where as people who don’t know about the book are saying, “This is the musical based on that movie”, now with this movie people to say, “This is the movie based on that musical”. The musical is solely based on the book. The movie had no influence on the musical, as far as I know. So no, this is not a remake, this is just simply another adaptation, as both the movie and stage musical are both adaptations.

I actually was part of a theatrical performance of Matilda and I started screaming with joy seeing this

I love the book as a tot, the movie as a child, the musical as a teen and now I get to love the movie adaptation of the musicals as an adult. Thank you!

Finally, a British adaption of Matilda, the American one was amazing but it's relaxing to finally see a version that relates more to the book.

I’m so so so happy they’re finally coming out with one with, well, music! The musical production is what I’ve been waiting for. I’ve watched the musical on yt before, but now that it’s gonna be a movie, I’m so happy!

I just watched it in the cinema and my inner child is healed. An outstanding film choreographed to perfection. Absolutely amazing!

As a British person I would like to say that the school is very accurate, students do randomly burst into song and also, this and the 1996 movie do show your average female head teacher.

We really enjoyed the musical production in London and now this version at the cinema. Every member of the cast were fantastic and I will definitely watch it again when it comes to Netflix.

I've seen this musical played in Korea about few weeks ago, I loved the songs and I'm quite happy to see netflix making a musical movie for matilda!! I don't have enough money to watch matilda again due to other musicals I have to see, so I'm glad I can watch the movie version again and again^^(i know that seeing it on stage and tv would be quite different but I'm excited :)))

We definitely needed this. Just a good old Roald Dahl film that's been given a 2022 makeover.

I actually saw a play of Matilda on friday at a school! It was SOOO good

Okay I'm excited for it now that I know it's taking elements from the musical. Cause I love the 1996 movie but that's it there's already a great adaptation of the book. And I'm also a theatre person. So when I Saw posts about this on Facebook I wasn't looking forward to it cause I kinda wanted a reboot to take elements from the book and musical. So now that I came across this and see that's technically what they're doing I am looking forward to it

This is so exciting!! The original will always have a place in my heart but a musical adaptation is awesome!

I can't wait! I have loved this story most of my life and am familiar with the musical. Emma Thompson fan too although it's hard to recognize her in this role. If she can do Nanny McPhee though, she can look bad here too. The only difference is she wasn't ugly on the inside as Nanny McPhee. She's ugly inside and out as the Trunchbull.

They even putted Miss Trunchbull grabbing the girl and throwing her in the playground fence just like in the book! *btw the scene is in **1:28** plus the original book page is 108 or at the back of the original book.*

25years a go the classic was on TV it's the big anvnisiey of the theatre production witch I sow last year with a friend . Can't wait to see the difference . At the cinema this time. The young lady who plays the famous girl is really beautiful young woman and really fit. And the lady cast members are are beautiful young woman and really fit as well. ❤️X can't wait to it's at cinema.
