*Disclaimer, Star of David represents my grandmother's devotion to the Jewish religion, not Israel, in this video. I represent peace*
The song in the video is "Thumbs" by Sabrina Carpenter, I do not own the music nor claim to!
A creative interpretation of my matriarchal lineage and how our family's women's beliefs evolved and grew since my great great grandmother immigrated to the United States from Azores with my 8 year old great grandmother in the 1910's.
Because some folks asked about the meaning (if you have time to read it lol):
This was just my creative interpretation of my PERSONAL matriarchal lineage from the late 1800's until now. When my ancestors immigrated to the US from the Azores in the 1910's (great great grandma) my great grandma and her husband were scrutinized/treated unfairly for being immigrants, so she sought to "Americanize" her family to give them better opportunities.
- Great great grandma immigrates to the US and gives citizenship to great grandma
- Great grandma learns/teaches English and passes on American tradition and Catholicism to grandma
- Grandma decides that traditional Catholicism isn't for her and converts to practicing Judaism, further establishing the freedoms she has as an American citizen
- Mother decided that Judaism wasn't how she wanted to live her life and instead focused on feminine strength of self and worked for the state doing a "man's" job, teaching her daughter that you have to work hard to get what you want
- Daughter keeps the 'work hard to get what you want' state of mind, but also presses for peace and understanding going forward no matter your religion, race, or country of origin.
This isn't about war, the only countries involved are the Azores and the US, I wasn't trying to be 100% historically accurate because it's a PERSONAL lineage expression, and there's no grand daughter because I haven't decided if I want children or not yet.
Thank you sm for watching, I loved the song and just wanted to try the trend because it looked like fun =)
