Have them. Very impressed. I was over-sharpening with then. Light pressure and very few strokes get you there quickly. Even on Maxamet. These are impressive.

I just recently got the Venev Centaur stones for my Tsprof kadet pro, it seems like just when you think you have the BEST...something newer and better comes out. Sooo it will probably be a while before I get those newer stones.😊

I have venev diamond stones they stop at 1200 grit . Is it ok to use sharpton pro stones after the diamond . Because the sharpton has a higher grit so to continue the grit progression .I’m new so if question is silly , just my inexperience, ty for your time .

Hi Michael, can you compare these stones finish to Wicked edge diamond stones?

Diamond and cbn stones are great when you get good manufacturers even plates I use plates for different things and steels and times then waterstones ex on a steel like s110v that likes a sawblade coarse edge I use a diamond plate cause the edge you get off of them is usually more toothy or if I don’t feel like flattening somthing and want to be lazy then I use them etc

Michael, I picked up Trend diamond stones at Blade Show 2018. 3" W 8" L in 180, 300, 600, 1,000 grit. My goal was to be able to sharpen large kitchen knives. The stones cut super fast. On and off I practice on thrift store knives and my skill level is getting better. I recently purchased Spyderco ceramic stones. The medium grit has arrived, the fine and super fine stones are on the way. At this point I can get the knives "sharp enough" however I am years away from the edges that come off my KME. Now for the QUESTION: Is it just me or do the ceramic stones cut and behave much different from the diamond plates? The ceramic "Medium grit" Spyderco stone seems to load up fairly quickly and the scratch pattern is more like a very fine diamond plate. The ceramic stone gives a very very fine result when used wet. It is almost like it becomes a different grit stone when lubricated. (water / dish soap / splash of oil) Thanks for the video. It helps me a lot to hear you talk on the topic. : )

If your liking the bonded diamonds you REALLY NEED TO TRY Metallic bonded cbn. I got a set custom made in 3x8 inch size (Perks of having family in Russia that can go to the factory and order them for me) about two months ago and literally since I have gotten them I haven't touched another stone. They are far and away the best stones I've ever used even blowing BBB super vitrified diamond stones out the water.

Hey Mike I have been watching your channel for a long time and have learned a lot. I wanted to ask you a question about stones and also a knife that I'm having trouble getting an edge on to make it cut well. The stone I use the most is a 2 sided stone that is 1k grit on one side and the other side is blue that is listed as 6k grit. I'm having problems with getting a bow in the stone. What's the most cost effective way to fix that? Also on this knife that I'm having trouble with it is made by tac force and it looks like a two sided edge but only has a single cutting edge on it. The heads itself is a thin cutting area and comes to kind of a speer point. And for some reason I just cant match the bevel on it to make the knife sharp. I've tried stones and other type of sharpeners but can't get it sharp. Any advice or ideas on how to fix it?

Can I send you a picture of the knife that I'm having trouble with getting a good edge on? What would be the best way to send that to you to look at? It's the only knife I have that I can not get a good edge on and I don't understand why and need a more knowledgeable person to take a look and see if you can help me and if I cant do it myself I'd be willing to send the knife to you.

I agree with you and the dmt plate. The choppy finish just wasn't suited to my liking. I do have the venev stones and prefer the finish, but recently have picked up gritomatics organic bonded CBN stones, mind blown. Cuts fast like diamond and clean, crisp finish like aluminum oxide. The 5k stones finish on 204p, rex45 ect. Mirror finishes almost as bright as my 10k aluminum stones. I've never commented on any of your videos and have zero credibility in professional sharpening, but I'd give cbn a shot. I was certainly surprised.

Michael you probably have tried bar keepers friend and magic erasers-Mr. clean- that de-swarfs the diamond bonded stones non-destructively, but maybe your readers have not. I’ve probably done a hundred edges on my 1x6 venevs and they still stick together by water when put face to face. So they are still flat.

Glad u changed your mind! and now u know aluminum oxide ceramic whetstones are just dated! Maybe u can purchase 6k 8k Naniwa diamond bonded stones. 150.00 each but for a professional sharpener u prob need them for the higher polish
@CrazySharp
@CrazySharp 5 жыл бұрын
Listen again... there is still a lot of stuff that I won’t use the diamond on... you are taking what I said out of context... some soft metals and especially sm100 don’t do well on diamond... this is just another tool in the belt. They aren’t replacing anything
@jovonntrujillo1143
@jovonntrujillo1143 5 жыл бұрын
Are u really trying to say diamond waterstones won’t cut sm100 because I know for 100 percent fact it does and I can show u the guy who has used them.
@jovonntrujillo1143
@jovonntrujillo1143 5 жыл бұрын
And diamond works well with soft metals too. There just alil more expensive so u can use cheaper alumni oxide stone to prevent wear. I’m just saying u don’t have to replace anything but I want people to know these are superior abrasives. And if it was cost effective there would be cbn and diamond 2x72 grinding belt. U can ask any machinist including Elliott would he was a cbn wheel on grinder or a old school alumni oxide wheel. For grinding
@CrazySharp
@CrazySharp 5 жыл бұрын
It does not give you the edge that I get on SM100 if you use diamonds..,you can try to tell me different but I’ve tried it on these stones as well and it does not do what I want ... I’m not going to argue with you it’s your opinion but sm100 it something I’ve done a lot of recently and it’s just not the same.., and softer steels slick the bonded diamond stones ...
