@@Azarath_Metrion_Zinthos I agree 100%. People should never assume orientation. I have friends who have assumed I am straight because they know I am not gay or bi. I am ace (asexual). You would think it would eventually become obvious given my history and complete lack of interest in being set up on dates and just actually backpeddaling out of certain discussions. But nope. People almost always do assume you are heterosexual. Even when your behavior itself is indicating otherwise.

@@TanyaBaxter Yeah Murray Bartlett is another big example of someone who was on Guiding Light for years and came out after. Matt had a ridiculous storyline where he was a serial killer haunted by a (female) babysitter's sexual abuse of himself, who then killed himself, but he really made it work and it was memorable stuff.

My niece came out as gay last year at 15, I think she thought my parents and I wouldn't accept her (my parents are VERY conservative, I'm middle of the road) but as long as she's happy, healthy and safe we respect and love her for who she is. It's so sad that some kids grow up in an environment where being LGBTQ+ is considered "evil" or otherwise demonized. We are all just people, we can't change how we are born. And we need to learn to accept ourselves and others for the person they are, not who we think they should be.

@@Skyismify Don't listen to @chloeamanda1999. And chloe... don't pretend that unfavorable view hasn't been earned with their behavior over the last several years. I'm gay and even I can't stand the alphabet community. Every ridiculous shitty thing the religious right of the 80's claimed we'd do if we ever got equal rights...the people who claim to be part of the 'alphabet community' are doing their darndest to make every one of those things come true. And nobody ever hears from those of us who HAVEN'T lost our damn minds because all WE ever wanted was to be left alone but the whiney screeching mentally unstable cry-bullies of the recent generations who never actually had it as bad as we did are doing anything BUT. Also chloe must be REALLY naive. In all my years I've heard SO many stories about people coming out and the only thing they have in common is that it's a total crap shoot as to the reaction you're going to get. People with parents you'd fully expect to be totally supportive lose their shit and kick the kid out while conservative church-going parents who you just knew would lose it and shun their child turn out to be super supportive. Why do you think it's so hard for some kids to come out? Because there is NO REAL WAY of knowing for sure how your family will react. So chloe needs to get off her high-horse and stop being shitty to some random person on the internet for NOT being a jerk too. And yeah...I just assumed her gender.
