I remember when they came to London Ontario a few years back. Tour bus pulls up, and you see Eddie come out. There was a handful, and you guys might think i'm bullshitting, but Ed pulls out a marker and piece of paper from his suitcase and says "What do you guys wanna hear tonight"? The 20 of us looked in disbelief, and I remember shouting "in my tree!" he looked surprised and scribbled something down....later at the show, they played it...as if they played it just for me...amazing moment

beautiful story.I travelled to canada ontario from ireland in 2006 to see them play.amazing show.canadian people are great--very like the irish.Yield and no code are special -probably their two best records.Jack irons doesnt get enough recognition

Personally im glad we have different drummers to listen to play the wonderful music of Pearl jam..Would be boring just to have one and thats it..They all brought their own musical magic to the table..God Bless all of ya!

What i love about cameron is he never plays one song the same way. his drumming could be completely different in one night than the other. Drummers are supposed to be creative, not play the same way every damn time. Matt is the SHIT.

Matt Cameron is incredible, but let's not forget Jack Irons came up with this groove. The 2 albums Irons made with Pearl Jam are definitely my favorite era of the band.

It's the only drumming of Irons's that I truly appreciated. Glad Matt did this justice rather than fluff around like he did with the Krusen/Abbruzzese catalogue.

MATT IS AWESOME AND PLAYS ALL THE NO CODE AND YIELD SONGS GREAT! JACK LEFT RIGHT BEFORE THE 2000 EUROPE TOUR AND MATT HAD TO LEARN 80 SONGS VERY QUICKLY! I HAVE ALL THE EUROPE AND US FROM 2000 AND WOW THOSE SMALL VENUES SOUND GREAT! SALZBURG 17,VERONA 19,SAN SAB 2,KATOWICE 15&16 OSLO 25 AND MY FAVORITE SHOW FROM EUROPE HANDS DOWN IS NUM 22!

As a drummer, I can tell you that he's blanderizing this very excellent Jack Irons groove. Matt Cameron's heart is a metronome, but unfortunately that superpower also makes him a robot with no swing or feel.

I prefer Matt over any other pearl Jam drummer, i actually like how he changes up some older songs.. he brings his onw style and influence to the band. he's a god at odd times too, great drummer. All of pearl jam's drummers kick ass. dont say one's better than the other, it's all opinion.

No, you're wrong. Pearl Jam doesn't have any odd times, so they don't need an odd-time drummer. They need a drummer with swing and Cameron has none. End of story.

@babaoriley8 I agree! I'm totally fond of Soundgarden, my first ever buyed album was Superunknown. Theses guys are awesome. And Ben Shepherd was the one who inspire me to start bass. He and Matt Cameron are an incredible rythmic base for the band, and now they reunite, maybe I'll see them live! Long live to Soundgarden!

in my opinion all 3 drummers were very good, each one in is own style, but all very good. i think each one fits perfectly in respective PJ's phase. Dave in a more agressive phase, Jack in the best phase of Pj (in my opinion again) and matt now its brilliant playing the new and old songs.

I think OWNS cause of his creativity. I hear other music and pay a lot of attention to the drums, and there are sooooooooooooo many boring drummers that don't even bother to mix anything up. A GREAT example of boring drummers is to listen to the radio (especially classic rock). Matt is great cause no two songs are ever alike.

Matt Cameron does everything you want a drummer to do. He’s the most musical drummer to play for Pearl Jam IMO. Plus him and Mark Guiliana are tight together...that says quite a bit!

@adjulbic that is a complete an utter lie. I was there and he took two requests from me that day- In My Tree and Smile. Nobody shouted anything that day. I requested In My Tree and asked if I had been to the show the night before (where they played it). I said no but I traveled from Chicago and its my favorite song. And they played it.

I think that everyone can identify the sound of Pearl Jam not only with Eddie's voice but also qith Dave's drumming...Matt Cameron and Dave Abruzzese are two great drummers because they are so good but also because you can immediately identify their unique styles...Dave Abruzzese created his own style such as Cameron did and this is a very rare skill...

Nothing. The pattern and rudiments are the same. Aside from the fills Cameron does that differ, it is a like for like.

Matt is always a pleasure to listen to, but i dont like the way he does Abruzzeses tracks. When i hear Matt i always think about Stewart Copeland, they are both aces at odd timing.

To me it makes sense that they'd have to let Dave A. go. And yes, it really is subjective... there is no real way to prove that one musician is better than another; art and beauty (hell, life) is subjective. Anyway, Dave A. always appeared the most pretentious, and his style shows. It's not BAD, to me, it's not adding enough to the mix, more swishy and crashy with all his stupid little crashes and shit. They're a rock band, not some DMB-like band. Anyhoo, Cameron is worth blaspheming about.

Tell us whose drumming you think "has personality" ? (can't wait for this). Honestly, you need to go listen to Jesus Christ Pose right now. Or have see him live. No way can you still make that claim. His drumming is not only powerful, but he's got a lot of technical chops and finesse to go with the it, and, most relevant to your comment, a quirky sense of phrasing with how he chooses to "fill the gaps" in time. It's hard to believe anyone could say his drums have no personality. You have shit in your ears dude.
