Matt Cooke and Don Cherry discuss cheap shots in the RBC center downstairs after the game. This was after his blind run at Erik Cole if I recall right. Too bad I did not start it from the animated start

I hated watching bums like Cooke and Raffi Torres end the careers of legit NHL quality players with cheap and reckless headshots. I like it better when the league rules allowed enforcers to hold these guys accountable. A penalty or a few games suspension is not enough disincentive for cheapshot artists. Enforcers would stand toe to toe and make them pay the piper. They rarely went after stars. They mostly went after the reckless cheapshot artists.

The last remnants of hockey how I remember as a boy. Our world is moving on so fast. Our children are deciding the rules of how they want to proceed with appropriate behavior,also more children of today are of mixed race including a couple of mine, so I feel like I'm really from a different time when people handled things with two fists and people my age really have to check what words come out of our mouths that seemed normal for most of my life. Don often said he would be fired by CBC and I was shocked that he was emotionally paying respects Veterans of war as his final coaches corner. I believe Don should have been given a pass and some quick lessons on modern woke correctness ,he could have been gently persuaded to read his words on paper and see how maybe a few different groups of people might be a little insulted by the quote " You People". But no, fired immediately the day after remembrance day. Less class than the two words spoken by a grandfatherly elder who is considered a Canadian instatution. Love you. Don . I forgive the fact that the world is moving on and we part of the transition.

He stood up for our veterans and he always said "you guys that" regardless if he was talking to whitey eating a sandwich and having a beer during a Saturday night game or any other race but it was always about honour and respect. Also, for everyone out there calling Cherry a racist bigot, just a quick list of things to consider: - for years, Jarome Iginla was his favourite player. - Cherry was a big fan of PK Subban coming out of junior. - he criticized the NHL's treatment of Chris Simon while everyone else was demonizing him. - Cherry called out HIS OWN NETWORK for broadcasting non-local NBA games over women's/NWHL games ... I could go on, but at the end of the day he's an old, white male, which unless you are actively apologetic for, is pretty much the most racist and bigoted thing you can be.

The weasel Bettman finally got his wish (Don Cherry out). Bettman has ruined the game of hockey as we know it. Why did we let someone who has no concept of the game, or any sport for that matter come in and turn nhl into something that is becoming hard to watch, from stupid rules that interfere with the game (having to leave the ice when someone pulls your helmet off) to the inept ability to get the officiating right ( they automatically review every OT goal, so why isn’t every single goal reviewed by off ice officials). It would take mere seconds, teams should not have to risk being short handed when the zebras don’t get it right.
@JRJunior86242 жыл бұрын
"Why did we let ..." You didn't let anyone, nor did any fans, the NHLPA wanted him badly, as did the Board of Governors, why? money! more of it, lots more. So they lured him from the NBA who has made gazillions, and now the NHL is much better paid. They wanted that, they don't give a shit about your HOCKEY IS GREAT IN CANADA!!
