I think it's less a "he WANTS to fight" and more a "he's willing to answer for blowing up the guy", even if it was a clean hit. Take the fight now to "pay the tab", so to speak, then continue, rather than inviting headhunting down the line

I also can’t help but feel like the Miles Wood defensive gem on Keller near the end of the game would’ve been called a trip if it was MacKinnon getting picked and falling like that.

Rule 41 - Boarding 41.1 Boarding - A boarding penalty shall be imposed on any player who checks or pushes a defenseless opponent in such a manner that causes the opponent to hit or impact the boards violently or dangerously. The severity of the penalty, based upon the impact with the boards, shall be at the discretion of the Referee.
