I feel like this would be a good song to play at that climactic moment in a film, right before a big explosion goes off, and everything slows down, and the cute moments the main character experienced earlier flash in warmer tones until the final seconds. It's not sad, it happens often, people sometimes write perfection for others without knowing it, take Johnny Cash for example, his cover of Hurt is far more well known and popular then the original songwriters Nine Inch Nails. But the band conceded in saying that his version made that song what it was, and they could no longer claim it. Those who will appreciate the original song still exist and too this day it's streamed more than the cover, just the video on KZfaq has less :)

I heard the cover first and now I’ve found the original. I know everybody’s comparing but Sarah of course sang it well but Matt, boy I watched this video with my jaw dropped the whole time. He exuded so much emotion through his voice and lyrics and the video is spectacular. So imo I prefer Matt’s. I just was floored. Not taking away from Sarah she has a beautiful voice. It’s just the level of emotion I get from Matt which is astounding.

Did you know that they were based on the actual people who died on the ship? The husband was offered a seat next to his wife on the life boat but refused to go because there were still women and children on the ship so his wife refused her seat to stay with her husband and instead gave it to their maid. They were described to be very in love too.

Ryo was talking on and on , reminiscing about their younger selves but there is no reply from Akira. Then it finally hits Ryo that Akira is dead and he just started bawling even though he have never cried before nor know how crying feels like.

Although this could be a social commentary on our world right now which would be wonderful, I also think it could describe a relationship that’s dying, and the two partners know it’s going to end soon but pretend everything is ok anyway. They act like they love each other and try desperately to keep alive a flame that they know already went out, and I think it’s a very powerful message especially since you can imagine the agony of losing hope in a once perfect relationship, and having to just watch it fall apart from the inside. I love the way Matt uses metaphors of death to describe love, as it can bring so much emotion into a piece. It’s so real sometimes it can be hard to listen to, which i think is very important; I love music that can challenge oneself.

I find there's so few things these days that can bring such fierce emotions so quickly. This song has the ability to bring tears in a kind of happy but morbid way. I’ve been feeling so trapped in my own mind recently and lost. This evening I looked out my window and saw a pretty sunset. Without hesitation I got out of bed and started running. I ran up a huge hill, got to the middle of a field where there were no people or houses. This song came on, and everything was perfect. I lay down in the grass and took in that sunset, it seemed unreal..... I literally have never felt the free after sprinting up that hill and throwing myself down on the grass. I felt so happy and free in that moment it was so perfect, almost too perfect. In the moment I realised everything happens for a reason and this song and that sunset didn’t happnen by chance, it happened when I needed it most and I sobbed my heart out alone on that hill.

i personally prefer this version. don’t get me wrong, sarah’s cover is nice as her voice is amazingly powerful, but the emotions are captured more subtly in a greater, raw depth in this one. matt’s tone and slight accent also gives an old type of feeling that makes it more resonating and beautiful. tbh matt really deserves more recognition and love, his song is all over tiktok yet he isn’t getting as much recognition as the cover and it’s sad.

This song shatters my heart every time I listen to it. The nuclear threat horrifies me beyond words, keeps me awake. It's so depressing to think that humanity is willing to end lives like that-and maybe even end the world. Why would we do that? There is no good reason. No one should ever have that much power. On a much less horrifying and depressing note, it kinda reminds me of Arthur and Ford from Hitchhiker's Guide-dunno why.

Just saying I have a lot of free time, ENJOY THE ENDING SCENE OF A MOVIE (that I made up now) [TW: suicide and self harm] Now, think of this: 5 characters, 4 scenes. A dancer making her final presentation having to smile. A couple sitting in a roof top joking around while both looking tense but trying to hide that. One teenager looking out of their window in a 10 floor building, the sky is pinkish and is very polluted, out of the building is a very busy city with people stealing food and objects. Another teenager hiding in their bathtub holding a knife and looking at it curiously. The scenes changes with the song. As the chorus come, the couple are now drinking something, the dancer does not pretend to smile anymore, the person is the window leaves the window and the teenager in the bathroom looks in the mirror. As soon as the chorus ends, a scene of the couple painting each other’s face laughing, cuts to the teenager is the bathroom having bloody hands and their sleeves completely soaked of blood. The person in the window has scissors. The chorus starts and when the part saying “the earth runs to the ground” the dancer takes her final bow, the couple tilt their heads to each other, the person is the bathtub hugs their knee and the person jumps out of the window. The next scenes are the dancer leaving the theater and going to the beach, where she throws her pointe shoes in the water and lays down in the sand. The person is the bathtub collides as the bathtub is filling with water mixed with red. The person finally reached the floor and you can see a glimpse of the dancer on the background, as people pass through the dead body not caring about it, even stepping on it. The couple looks at themselves and smiles as a bomb explodes in the background

Ohh my interpretation was that on its current course the world is fucked and will probably end with a war lasting only hours and the couple in the video have accepted and come to terms with their imminent fate and instead of panicking they're gonna face it together and just love each other till their end.
