glad someone typed this AOT's portrayal of war its often the most Underated and neglected subject,

I dont know if this makes sense but i think with how MAPPA has animated season 4 captures the darkness of aot with their animation style. It felt WITs animation was more brighter so it never felt that dark until you thought about the story. This probably doesnt makes sense but yano

it's also because when looking back on the start of the show after everything that has happened, it seems a lot more tragic. I definitely recommend rewatching aot again because I first thought it was going to be boring but it actually made me cry during scenes that I didn't cry from before. Like mikasa and eren's backstory made me nostalgic and after how their relationship fell out, it made me come to appreciate the origins of their story and wonder where they went wrong. Or when marco got killed and we see the marleyan warrior's reactions, it hits a lot harder knowing what has happened and why they were acting this way. Also the scene where Berthold is running away to ymir and reiner and cries about how he never wanted to be the devil and how he didn't know any better, knowing that bertolt, reiner, and annie were manipulated and brainwashed as a child and then sent on an impossible task with no foreknowledge makes the scene hurt even more. Thought rewatching aot was going to be repetitive but if anything, it made me come to appreciate the characters even more, understand the true weight of the scenes, pay attention more, and let the scenes make more sense in general.

He travels through pathways to speak to past selves, who knows how many times he went back and changed an outcome. The fact that he believes the only way to be free is to be killed and end the curse with his life; and he made Armin/Mikasa hate him enough to go through with his demise, it’s extremely tragic. His soulmate he most likely sent his younger self to save (think about it, why would younger Eren travel by himself to save Mikasa if it wasn’t for future Eren telling him to like he did his own father to kill the Reiss family). Mikasa will never get to have a normal life with Eren, Armin will never get to travel the world, Jean/Connie/Sasha will never be alive again, Levi lost Hange his only surviving comrade, and Eren’s freedom will be his death. Thai story is dark tragic and hopeless. But at least humanity will survive.

I watch the anime and I realize that the horses are the slaves with zero sympathy given from their masters. If I look at the horses perspective it is truly sad to know that I am just going to be bred for war and die. It is a pity they had to go through human drama and force to die.
