Matt Rife isn’t getting canceled necessarily for his offensive jokes but more so because with his special everyone realized how actually unfunny he is like Theo Von made a joke about domestic violence, and it was funny because he was making fun of men not the victim

His Netflix special fell flat but he has two KZfaq specials that are excellent. You saw one piece of material and one overdone joke and arrived at that conclusion. Imagine if social media were this heavy during Chapelle or Bob Saget's prime times.... You think Rife's joke was bad? that was LIGHT compared to still big comedians that were never "cancelled".

@@JDriver771as someone who has seen a lot of his content and tended to enjoy the KZfaq specials, I still think it’s fair to come to the conclusion that he’s not really funny and also sexist. Have you seen him talking about his ‘type’ in women on a podcast before where he shamelessly objectifies them? Him being witty at times during crowd work is one thing, but the plethora of poor taste comments he’s made that have accumulated kinda just go to show that he has a lot of learning to do. A lot of people who find those ‘controversial’ comedians funny still can find Matt Rife lame, it’s not really about being soft or sensitive imo - he’s just kind of making him self look a bit pathetic. This comment is meant to be kind, just wanted to offer up a different perspective ◡̈

It’s so unfortunate because i went to a Theo Von Netflix special show and he had to redo jokes like 4 times to get the right one. The reality really sucked to see because it was so staged. In my opinion It’s about the intention of the joke, his goal was to distance himself from his female audience, he wanted that joke to prove to people he was appealing to men and that’s who he wants his audience to be. It was quite literally an “I don’t respect them either, I’m one of you”. Anything can be joked about if done well but it’s about the purpose of the joke and it wasn’t just for everybody to have a laugh.

@@user-20deal before the comedy special started he said that this time it's "for the guys" (since his audience is mostly women which he deslikes) and immediately, in the first line, goes for a abuse joke WHICH WASN'T EVEN FUNNY, loads of comedians say offensive jokes or domestic violence jokes but they a) actually make them funny b) don't go on before it saying that this is specifically for the men and are trying to make men laugh. Read the first comment above it explains it perfectly. Tell Matt to get over himself considering that he got offended over a plastic surgery joke that nobody mentioned him by name in lol

I love this podcast but I hate how often they completely condemn the actions and behaviors of women in the industry that just simply “give them bad vibes” with no hesitation but continue to make excuses for men in the industry that are proven menaces to society. This isn’t even the first time. Them saying “well Matt’s always been nice to me so-“ is so disappointing when a large portion of their audience was the butt of most of Matt’s offensive “jokes”.

matt ride is not gettinv cancelled for making a DV “joke”. he’s getting cancelled because his special was not funny what so ever & he made an attempt at a DV “joke” which just turned out to be him stating that he witnessed a girl who had clearly been abused & she wouldn’t have been if she knew how to cook. simply not funny. MANY other comedians make “edgy” jokes all the time & it works because it’s funny. Matt Rife simply is not funny & everyone is just now realizing that.

I’m a fan of both of them, but they’ve even admitted before that controversy keeps you relevant. Matt is not a victim of a situation that was “blown out of proportion.” In reality, he took a risk to gain some relevance and it went south
