The idea of a mild recipe with “dark” notes is my idea of an excellent beer. I brew one similar, without an oat addition which makes a lot of sense, and I love it.

Absolutely love a Dark Mild. I think you mentioned in the video that it is a very adaptable style and it is. Last year I made a Coffee Dark Mild using freshly ground coffee beans and this year I've just kegged a Coffee Dark Mild with the addition of some Manuka smoked malt. Both very delicious. Cheers guys. 🍻

Very interesting, thank you! I brewed a short-brew-day-version British Dark Mild @3%ABV; only due to procrastination excellence I haven't tasted it yet (and no cask setup anyway...) Will listen in on BBR and looking forward to seeing some equivalent brew footage @BrewCabin (seems a bit quiet of late?)

Respect 👍 From England. Brown sugar and liquorice are ingredients used apparently. Not brewed one myself yet, but it's on my list.

My very first extract brew day back in 2004: dark mild!

Historic English mild was not a binary dark sugar vs dark malt! Examples of each type existed as did Milds using dark sugar, caramel and dark malt. Of course just to confuse the issue Milds can be pale or dark in colour. Cheers

Ask Matt why he hasn't posted a video in over a year.

I won a recent homebrew competition with a 3.2% ABV dark mild beer, which included some Sugar Creek BBA chocolate malts. They served it at a beer festival. One keg had a randall of coffee. It was delicious. I highly recommend making this style of beer.

back in the day it was brewed with dark sugar as more refined sugar cost more !
