For me the C string on the violin is warm, and on the viola it is dark

What they do rather cleverly w/ 5 String Violins is make the Ribs a little deeper so the C string resonates better.

I think Wittner Fine Tune pegs will help them hold tune better cause they'll prevent the peg box from wearing out.

Viola bow has a rounded frog so you can see the difference, it's usually a bit thicker & heavier than a Violin Bow if you put them on a scale.

I'm no expert, but your never-cleaned regular Violin sounded quite resin-ous, a tad scratchy, as it were. I really loved the sound of that brand new Viola you bought for 100 lbs. - had great volume and super clean sound. You gave me an important piece of information no one else even mentioned in other reviews, which is the 5-string Violin placed the strings a bit closer than a 4-string which is noteworthy to me as I do not have "slender" fingers and find my own Violin troublesome enough (I'm rather a beginner) keeping fingers from touching other strings. In another three months I will be ready for a Viola that I've wanted from the beginning, and am considering a 5-string Electric Viola. Btw, the world of music critique apparently has been scamming the entire population for millennia, as they have always insisted the Violin is the most difficult musical instrument to learn, which is total poppycock. I'm playing three months and can play almost anything by ear and have not much difficulty reading grade 4 (except for the vibrato of course), and believe in one year I will surpass my previous ten years of Trumpet playing, which is a most difficult instrument indeed when you consider playing double time, and as you know on Violin double time is easy and quadruple time is also relatively easy. So why the lies all these years? - I do believe due to popularity of bluegrass and social media, the cat's out of the bag and everybody is realizing Violin is kid's game. Oh, but a great game it is. I'm having more fun in music at 76, yes, 76 years old, then I've had since ... well, beginning Trumpet, ha. ciao. Thanks for the vid. ps: None of my business, but I'd clean those Violin strings and polish up the ol' girl - may bring out some tonal color you hadn't heard in a while.
