According to Matt Walsh, men and women should not have the same roles and responsibilities in society. In this #MRlive clip, ‪@DailyWirePlus‬ tells his audience that he'd rather die than adapt to a changing world where women are drafted into the U.S. military. Emma Vigeland and the Majority Report crew have some bad news for this chivalry fan.

Matt Walsh: Men are supposed to protect women from things like that. That's the job of men, in fact. Men go over to fight these battles, precisely so that the women and children don't have to experience the violence in the heart. That's the whole point.
Emma Vigeland: No, it's not the whole point. The whole point is to further our imperialist interests and to ensure u.s hegemony globally. The idea that a woman doesn't know how to press some buttons on these war machines, that we have - i'm not trying to disparage anybody in the military - but like we're not doing hand-to-hand Krav Maga in Iraq with like a 320-pound dude. I mean, look, it's gonna be fine.
Matt Lech: I'm six-foot-two like 170. I'm not a huge guy, but tall enough, and I thought about joining the Marines. And then you look at like, uh frankly, like the idea that a woman couldn't uh train herself to the point where you could even like carry like the heavy combat stuff and like fire the gun is just ridiculous. I mean what point is having the Olympics if for not realizing that actually they're capable of physical excellence too. We just don't socialize them toward that.
Emma Vigeland: And what the... and what the hell is this continued women and children narrative? Are we in 1912? I guess he is. I mean that's offensive in and of itself. To protect women and children, looping them in, I guess we're on, you know on board of the Titanic right now. But i guess let's let's take a listen to this:
Matt Walsh: If you're gonna just send your daughters in anyway, then what's the point. Now, my daughters will certainly not be signing up. I would go to prison before I'd ship them off to go fight in any war that's for sure. That is one law, if it is signed into law, that i will...
Emma Vigeland: So, like, look at how demented that is. I'll go to prison to make sure my daughters don't go to war, but i'll be proud as hell if my sons die for war. What like... Okay, so your ballast is just gender roles, not the murder of people. That's not the number one thing that's driving your morality.
Matt Lech: He's really harping on the gender thing because I think that makes the most intuitive sense to his sort of audience. Like I couldn't be in a foxhole next to a woman. But really like there's a larger project going on with the right in the military with regards to critical race theory particularly, and this is all that sort of thing like we're not we're moving away from war fighting prowess to like go soft or something like that, which is just like... Which is why also these people aren't allies in terms of of getting rid of the um of anti-war anti-war because they want war to be like just like um 'roided up white guys shooting guns into civilian tents, basically.
Emma: All right, we'll finish this off.
Matt Walsh: Happily disobey, and I can take that position without self-contradiction. Because I don't believe that men and women are equal. And I don't believe that they should have all the same roles or responsibilities in society. I've been very consistent about that for years. There's nothing that could ever make me abandon my stance on that issue. I would rather be dead than ever affirm the insane modern notion that there is no fundamental difference between men and women. I would prefer death over that. That's how strongly i feel about it.

Matt Walsh is invoking the same arguments that previous court systems used to justify not allowing women to practice law, work overtime, receive fair treatment related to taxes, and other unconstitutional laws solely “on the basis of sex,” which violates the Equal Protections Clause in the Constitution. If Matt Walsh is just expressing his antiquated opinions regarding women, then it’s his within his rights to do so freely. However, if Matt Walsh is trying to advocate for federal policy that violates the Constitution, and utilizes antiquated assumptions about the role of females to somehow stem the flow of admission into selective service, he is pushing for a ridiculous notion. Of course, women are less likely to engage in conflict overseas, but if they want a path in the military or other branch of armed service, then it’s their right to so do so without obstruction based on unconstitutional grounds.

He is not pushing for federal government restrictions on this. His only point is that traditional roles have purpose and he would rather disobey the law to protect said values. And, there is nothing wrong with this perspective. He cares for his wife, loves his daughters, and supports men fighting to protect women. And, he is not totally wrong on this, hence the amount of females able to complete military basic training, hence how women now have lower standards to enter the military, how men are accounting for the worst jobs, about 95% of workplace deaths are men, and how sports gender barriers exist to give women a chance in sports they would not have a chance in (swimming, basketball, beach volleyball, soccer, wrestling, weight lifting, etc.) to name a few.

@@FuddlyDud I don’t have a problem with Walsh promoting his own perspective on the female sphere of life, and millions of women and men obviously agree with him regarding his views, so I won’t interfere with their private practice of these beliefs. If a women wants to form a family, then she is welcome to freely, and more ideally with child and family tax credits for an incentive structure to help more people form families. If a women doesn’t want to pursue a military career, then she’s welcome to decide not to, and choose a different path for life. However, the opportunity of a military career for women should never be denied “on the basis of sex,” nor should a women be denied the opportunity to practice law for simply being female, which was the now-defunct Supreme Court precedent about 150 years ago. Of course, it’s been reversed now, but still, it should never be invoked again to deny opportunities. In essence, it should just be equality under the law. Look, I’m not going to encourage women to join and fight in the military, but it’s well within their own rights to do so. If Matt Walsh and his like-minded peers freely choose not to join the military based on their own beliefs, they can freely do so as well. I’m not going to suppress what you believe, but in turn, regardless of your own personal beliefs, it’s the legal imperative to allow for the opportunity without obstruction, and in turn, it’s ultimately up to women to either pursue or not to pursue the career. It’s just the legal imperative, and we can discuss the morality and idea of gender roles in a separate debate, but simply put, the basic assumption everyone should have is that the opportunity should be given without fail.

During the test a man entered the room, fired a pistol, then left. My father said it took a second or two to ascertain that the man had fired a blank. He got back to work, ignoring as best he could the several fellow trainees who loudly wondered why someone would shoot a gun during a test. Real warriors know how to adapt.

War in general is immoral in and of itself, so there shouldn't even be the necessity for a draft. Apart from that, operations of the armed forces have drastically changed over the last 80 years. There are now many more positions and roles in the military where the difference in physicality is no longer an issue (if it ever was). Both sexes can equally operate drones, computer systems, data analysis, health services, firearms etc. pp. without any differences in performance. I'm no military guy in any way, but from their perspective, it would be just plain stupid to ignore half of all people potentially interested in filling such roles. In our time, there is no reason whatsoever why men and women (or any gender, for that matter) in uniform shouldn't or couldn't be equal.

@jshowa o No one is truly equal under the law either. People who are rich get better treatment under the law and can afford legal teams to maintain their innocence while poor people have to rely on public defenders.

So that guy is deciding what his daughters can do, guessing he will only proud if his daughters became breeding machines for the man he chooses for them... what a horrid father he is.

Everything he said flew right over everyone’s heads. Including the simple minded hosts of the show. For instance, when he says equal, he means same as, not talking about rights!!! Men and women are not the same! And at no point did he say that an individual couldn’t choose to do as they want, he said we should be against mandating military combat for a group that is largely unsuited to do so. Woman are different than men, and should be held in reverence, that’s not a slight.
