This song resonates with me in a lot of ways. I now face divorcing the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I know that I'm not soley at fault for our marriage falling apart, but sometimes I wish I had tried harder to be attentative to the small things that made her happy, which I was never good at. I've always been a provider. Worked as many as 70 hours a week so she could be a stay at home mom. But affection, and grand gestures of affection was never my strong suit. When I think about all the little things she did to let me know she loved me, the notes she wrote me, I feel like a fool. Like maybe if I had just tried harder, maybe this would have never happened. It was never any big thing that caused our marriage to fall apart. We even for the most part get along now, and we're still good friends... We put raising our son first, and I want my son to learn from my example in how I treat his mother to be the precedent for how he treats women... but man I miss her. I don't believe that there is such a right thing as a right person in this world. I believe love is a choice. And man, if I could go through it one more time, I would make sure I never missed an opportunity to show her what she meant to me. The truth is fellas, that love, being the provider, and the protector, isn't enough. Romance helps breed life into a relationship. Nurturing sustains that relationship.
