Jesus Christ, the Son of God, teaches a rich man how to gain eternal life.
Matthew 19:16-26
16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

All of us turned our back.yet while we were still sinners Christ died for the ungodly. Jesus Christ came not to save the righteous but to save sinners.he came to give his life so if we believe we can be forgiven .thats what the true living God does for his creation.we break his law and are deserving of death but he loves us so much he died for us.all glory and praise and power and dominion goes to the lord

Pretending to be good but not wanting to care for his neighbours in need, which are the poor people, is violating the second commandment. Love your neighbour as yourself. Actually selfish intensions to keep your riches you earned because you have been given the gift of ability to earn all those riches from God. God gave you life, intelligence, hands etc.

WOW! I have heard this story so many times. Never have I realized that I, living in America, having a low middle class income was I in the "rich mans" dilemma. Not being a perfect tithe payer and not giving where ever I can. Instead worrying about my social/income advancement's. Passing up small chances to serve people around me. Thinking ,"someone else will get that". I need to rethink what's important to me.

@@galiffrey1 You're right. We're sinners and imperfect. We can't save ourselves. That's why we have the Atonement. The Atonement allows us to repent and be saved. Repentance is a blessing and a gift from God. If we don't accept the blessings of the Atonement, we won't return to God's presence. As long as we repent and try our best to obey God, God will forgive us and we will be able to live in God's presence again. He doesn't condone bad intentions and bad behavior. That's why we have the Atonement. God gives us so many chances to repent and turn to Him. He wants us to change into better people and progress. Although we may be imperfect, He loves us perfectly and unconditionally. Just because He loves us doesn't mean He excuses our bad behavior. He expects us to repent and try our best to obey Him.

When the young ruler turned away, his god was revealed. Treasure is his god and he didn't love his neighbours by coveting their wealth and goods, therefore he didn't keep his commandments.

Jesus never asked anyone to build him temples and worship him, and if worshiping the gods could save people, their is no need of Jesus. The Way of Love is the philosophy taught by Jesus. Love LOVE with all your being. Love all living beings. Love your self. Love enemies and create new friendships. Love one another as Jesus Loves us... Loving Kindness, Mindful Mercy, Truthful Awareness, kindness and the spirit of gratitude and generocity leads us to everything Jesus taught us to do, and how we are go be, not in stone temples but in truth and in spirit and with broken hearts of compassion. Jesus shows us the way of abandoning empty mythology, and taking up the cross of mercy and empathy. By helping one another, caring for one another, loving each other we are experiencing the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth, we become his hands and his feet, we are one body in Christ Jesus.

To Clarify the Camel and eye of the needle analogy. The eye of the needle was the back entrance to a city. Meant for men only, very small and narrow. However, if the camel knelt down and crawled unburdened, it could get through the eye of the needle. The rich man can indeed get to heaven. He needs to be humbled to the ground rather than propped up in pride by his riches. That is the reason Christ said to be perfect he would need to sell his riches. This would prove once and for all where his heart truly was. There is nothing wrong with being rich as long as you are ready if called upon to release that wealth and crawl through the eye of the needle.

I encountered a kindly man who gave everything he had to the poor, everything. The man reported in the next year, he had made more wealth than all of his years of earnings combined. Very humble man with a unique story.

Karl Shaner: Let money serve us and not vice-versa. Money is a state of mind, the value of a dollar, and a regenerable resource. For the wealthy, time can be more precious. The accumulation of wealth begins in the mind and whereto we direct our wealth, so there is wisdom gained.

+Karl Shaner +Susan Diane Howell --> Money is like Alcohol, it amplifies who you already are. It doesn't make anyone inherently greedy or giving. If you are greedy (as in you covet someones wealth) you are in the wrong no matter how poor you are. When I say "called upon to upon to release that wealth" that call can only rightfully come from the source of that wealth. Anything else is greed or covetousness.

Let us also consider that we are stewards over the abundance we receive. We must have the skills and will to manage that which is portioned to our care. The Lord gives to each of us as He knows us. To covet the wealth of others is a blindness to one's own life: our talents to be developed, opportunities around us, contributions that we can make, fields we can harvest.

He wasn’t saying that you have to sell everything to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. He was saying that you have to let go of all of your works, and begin to believe in Christ instead. That’s why when the disciple walked up to him and said in disbelief, “then who can be saved”, he responded that no man can save himself, but through God all things are possible. You can’t give away everything you own materialistically. You need clothes, for example. But you can give away all of your works, and consider yourself perfect through Christ.

Valerie Konstantos Good deeds. Religious deeds. By works, he means attempting, trying to be a good person by doing good things in the eyes of God. No one can earn eternal life through their own actions. Because no one is perfect, either God offers us salvation or we don’t get it at all. That’s why Christ died for us. To purchase our freedom (Ephesians 1:7). Many think they have to either earn salvation or maintain it with their efforts. But the scripture says in James 2:10 that if you break one law, you’re as guilty as breaking them all. It also says we’ve sinned (Romans 3:23) and the wages of sin (singular) is death (Romans 6:23), so we can’t our debt with works. Only through the shedding of blood can forgiveness of sins happen (Hebrews 9:22). And therefore, we need Jesus Christ. Because He shed His blood for our sin once and for all and will never die again (Romans 6:9-10). Through His death, our debt can be paid (John 19:30, Colossians 2:14) and in exchange, He can cover us in His righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21, Romans 5:1, 8:1). So when we die, we will stand before Him, as if we never sinned. That’s why Christ died for us. To remove from us, our sin.

Valerie Konstantos And James chapter 2 also said faith without works is dead. But this doesn’t mean what many think it does. James is talking about false converts. If you’re a genuine Christian, your works will show. In other words, if you truly came to faith in Christ, which results in you becoming born again with His Holy Spirit (John 1:12, John 7:37-39, John 3:3-5), it’ll be evident in your changed life style (2 Corinthians 5:17). If you claim to had come to faith in Christ, but you’re still the same, then your faith is dead. That’s what “faith without works is dead” means.

If He asked God to help give up everything God would help him, but thr young ruler loved his stuff and that's all it is stuff poccessions more than God. I dont believe he got saved he walked away bitterly that's what scripture says. It's not impossible for someone like him to come to God though

It was a lesson about putting worldly pleasure above God and righteousness. In this case, the man obeyed commandments like a to do list set of rules to guarantee himself salvation yet was more concerned with possessions that he couldn’t take with him when he died instead of helping others who were less fortunate. Goes without saying though that no one who is filthy rich became that way without coveting, lying, stealing, or killing, and etcetera. That said, no one should judge anyone else. Only God sees the true heart of us and only God can be the righteous judge.

If not really important . Just ignore it. 3. Because all of you human want become judger . somekind its normal you judge people because your mouth want to do that with your heart. Its normal. 4. We dont need to know how we judge or not to anyone because no one can be judge. I cannot judge you where are you get that money . You can get money from your mommy , stealing or Working or Goverment etc. 5. Just ask people why he do that. And hear him and give good suggest + left him. Ignore critic. Because i have experiences full of spread word of God. If you dont judge people , they cannot judge you because God close their mouth with your truth.
