Abraham Lincoln is my TOTAL hero, though I never met him. I wish I could have met him, but he was here in another time and historical period of the world. He made a HUGE difference in not just US History, but WORLD history as well in freeing the slaves, other countries caught on. I feel that our country was in total darkness during slave times. In the South, there are still mansions galore and I feel that this is old money from slave times to a great degree. I feel that God gave us Abraham Lincoln and I know in my heart that he was a true man of God. I wish others would follow in his footsteps as he was an excellent example for people to live by. May God almighty bless him. Amen.

He also said “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms it will be because we destroyed ourselves from within.”

I think this is the speech that pushed the south to secede when Lincoln was elected. Lincoln didn’t expressly threaten to abolish slavery but he certainly implied he would would do what he could to end it.
