@@kiyoponnnApple already set the standards. We wouldnt have Snapdragon X if the Mac wasnt the sucess it is. Snap X is a definitely changing the industry but doubt Apple is concerned like the X is barely any faster than the base M4.

I'm so glad to see intel getting punched in the face. For years, they did not innovate and while performance did increase, it came at the cost of high thermals. Now Snapdragon is going to take the throne and they will struggle.

My last Dell had so many overheating issues it pushed me to buy apple silicon when it dropped.. Intel dropped the ball hard. Good to see they are coming back though with the new core Ultra series too. I’d go for these snapdragons probably though cause I’m poor and not in need of crazy power anymore.

@@ErrcycoI never in a million years saw myself getting a MacBook like ever. I am a windows guy I love x86 apps, but the M1 MacBook Air was and still is undeniably better than any windows thin and light laptop and I got mine for $500 used.

@@HaiBeast I had the M1 Mac Air and it was an amazing laptop. Unfortunately, I had too many programs that relied on X86 architecture. If we can get that level of performance at the form factor and quietness as Macbook Air, then we can talk about comparison. Until then, Apple is king.

Does it being originally a mobile device CPU and x86 mean that it won't be able to run some desktop programs? If there aren't any limitations or drawbacks to this new tech, I'm surprised it isn't as viral as COVID right now. Make them expand to the cheaper market and nobody's gonna be buying any shitty Intel or AMD computer from then on.

Battery life matters a lot+ a fanless design. App compatibility will be fine overtime and it will have important apps for an average user at their lunch time. I waited to change my laptop to see how these laptops will perform. If they're good, I'll buy an OLED one.

Battery life will be amazing. I already preordered the Lenovo Slim 7x. I recommend looking at that one. It's a 14" OLED with a 90hz refresh rate and a 70Wh battery. You can also get it with 32GB of memory if you customize it on the Lenovo site. The upgrades for it are cheap too (memory and storage). After a student discount, and with a bag + bookbag, the total for me was $1200. For this level of technology, that's incredible value.

Really when it comes out. Please test the Battery life in normal "office/multimedia" tasks. I hope that it could be so good as my M2 13 Macbook pro. I hope that Games would also work without beeing connected to an poweroutlet . Like World of Warcraft, Genshin Impact, Counter strike 2, COD and so on.

Nobody has even mentioned the GPU in the device. Is it any good? How does it compare to Apple Silicon GPUs or NVIDIA/AMD DGPUs?

Well, in the showed Baldurs Gate 3 even the basic Apple chip perform similar, and if the X Elite is a more expensive one compared to the X Plus, than that is not the basic M2/M3/M4 competitor (even based on core counts, they are more like the M2 Pro/M3 Pro/M4 Pro competitor, but that Apple chip also doubling the fps compared to the basic M series), so in shorts, the reason to not hear about a lot of the GPU, because it's not really good, just a bit better like the Android flagships already have)

@@TamasKiss-yk4st Not really a good comparison for a few reasons. 1. is baldurs gate has a native apple ARM port. So most games would NEVER come close to that. 2. the game still runs fairly poorly when compared to x86 GPUS like the 3080 and 4080 which are similarly priced, 3. The "basic" apple silicon chip really isn't a powerhouse, its okay, just very good at battery efficiency. For those of us needing an extremely high end GPU, you'd need the Pro chip line or Ultra line which has far more GPU cores. Comparing the X elite to that is a fairer comparison.

Raw NPU performance is better compared to the M3 or below, M4 is closer. However MS has compared all benchmarks to the M3 Macbook Air which is passively cooled and did not mention any Pro, Max or Ultra performance. I guess MS strategy is to push ARM on the lower end portable devices where performance / watt matters and keep the highend market to the x86, since on desktop workstations power consumption is not the highest priority.

These could be huge for AI folks because of their combined memory (like the newer Macs). Running an LLM on your own machine is usually limited by how much VRAM you have. If you get 32GB of ram on one of these machines, that means you can run an LLM with 30+ billion parameters.

Every laptop performs good during the first few days, n as u load all applications ( least all office apps) or Visio, ms project , excel , n other crazy imp apps, then the performance goes very week , heated n many such things pop up, taking buyers into a frustrated zone on those laptops. Wish to see such testing performed..
