Don't know what flights you use, I've only ever seen a single usb port for charging, and that was only once. But, that wasn't an intercontinental flight

I had to make choices like this recently, i used to bring my 3ds and switch around in my bag so that i can pop one out at work during off time. But since i got my steamdeck, it ended up being too much for my bag so i instead swapped to having the steamdeck and my moded vita since i didnt need extra room for games.

Never had a problem with steam deck battery, but I'd always pack the Switch because of its multi-player capabilities and it's also waaaay cheaper so if it gets stolen or something, it isn't as big of a loss.

Deck. Steam Deck ALL the way. I flew from NYC to Korea and after to Australia back to NYC and TRUST ME...i didnt miss my switch 😂😂😂 i had everything, not just the games but my streaming apps, movies and full computer editing software on my deck. It kept me alive.

I love my SteamDeck but it’s just slightly too big for portability. At least for me. I love how seamless everything functions on my Switch. I love that I can play a game and instantly put it to sleep when I have to. It’s just a bit more convenient. I found that I enjoy my SteamDeck the most from the comfort of my bed or couch. Sometimes I just don’t feel like getting on my computer.

The battery life between the two is only comparable if you play comparable games. 🙄 Don’t compare the battery life of the Steam Deck when running a full on triple A game with the nintendo switch running a limited-switch-optimized version of the same game. It’s not a sound argument. Get the exact same game, same graphics, same settings, etc. And only then compare their battery life.

Yeah, both, Steam Deck anytime there are outlets, Switch anytime you have to go an ample time without an outlet or battery pack. Plus I would opt for low energy cost settings and FPS on the deck to make it last a little longer.

Deck. If you need a browser/word/etc it's also a mini PC. Doubly so if you don't wanna connect your phone to the wifis. Doubt the Deck would have super sensitive info compared to your phone and should already be running 2FA on anything and everything that you can.

The big titles don’t run very well on it though. Like the first party games. Might as well play those games on the switch since it’s optimized well for the console (yes ik the switch has a dated chipset, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy Nintendo games) only Nintendo exclusives that don’t run amazing would be the new Pokémon violet and scarlet since game freak doesn’t even try anymore. There are still a lot of third party games that work well too. All the indie games are amazing for the switch. I myself don’t need the extra horse power since if I wanna play Elden ring I’ll just do it on my at home while I play a shit ton of indie games on the go or switch games like tears of the kingdom. (This isn’t a dis at you, just saying what works for me others have their preferences because hey the steam deck is amazing! For what it can do! Like I’m so glad it exist I might get one at some point but I just don’t need all that power on the go for now.)

@@beanslol1725 eh no, pretty much any Switch Game runs better on the Steamdeck than on the switch itself. Yet it requires some tinkering. If you Just want to slap in Your Game and dont bother with anything else and you really need the extra batterylife, the switch is for you. Otherwise the Steamdeck is Superior to the switch in literally any aspect. And yes i have both Handhelds. (Long train Rides to Work) Since i have the Steamdeck the switch is only good for catching dust.

Tbh the battery isn't an issue as long as you have a Power Bank with the right power but even then the power changes depending on what game you are running especially on the switch with that being 4-9 hours with the same applying to Steam Deck with a 2-8 hour battery but that can change due to settings to configure how much power is used and how intense the games are

I have a Switch. The battery life is nice. Probably gonna need a battery pack or two or three, for the 36 hour flight, you can use a hotspot for both to potentially play online too. Or, get a hotspot and get a ps5 portal and leave your ps5 on at home. 😅

Hmmm tough call but I would go with switch. Easy pick up and play games means I’m not worried if battery dies or if I lose my game save. A few Mario kart races and a few smash matches and I should be set for a few hours.

If you got a pc at home, you can play any game on a hacked switch running moonlight with minimal latency, I just play a full playthrough of re4 remastered and it ran great

Switch is better in my opinion. Battery live is so much more important on handhelds. Also weight matters Also its cheaper and the game selection on switch is also very good. Steam deck is cool but i prefer the switch
