Really one of the best voices ever...power when needed, sensuous and emotional, tender and controlled. The timbre was perfection. In America this man would have his own show, be idolised and revered. And yet, in Britain he sang in holiday camp shows hosted by his friend Bernard Manning, he sang on daytime lunchtime TV shows. We love him there is no question...but he is a very English phenomenon...self effacing and settling for less than he is worth. The singing bus driver...but truly one of the best crooners ever.

I came here on KZfaq because I am looking how Matt Monroe sang his song From Russia With Love. I missed my grandfather from motherside. 😢❤️ He's the kindest and lovable grandfather ever. ❤️ I look up to him because he is a man with innate intellect and integrity. Such a responsible head of the family. He is a hardworking man. A man with so much skills and abilities. He is an inspiration for us to his grandchildren. He keeps reminding us the dignity and values of getting education. That is the treasure he can pass to us that no one can steal that from us. He is talented too. The last time I heard him he sang a song for us is that song From Russia With Love. ❤️ I never knew it was his last time I will hear him singing when we visited him with my family in the province. It's heartbreaking because it just less than a month I arrived in Europe, that my dreams came true then I got the bad news from my family that he just passed away. 😢💔 Then I still remember there was a sudden big brown butterfly came flying for a while at the window . 💔😢 I talked to that butterfly because I know my passed away grandfather can hear me at that moment. 😭💔 It was his long illness he suffered.. colon and prostrate, he got the surgery years before but since he is a hardworking man and got not enough nutrition he needed.. as my mother told me, he were enduring the pain and sickly more when my mother had not enough time to visit him because we need also my mother for us to help for out of the province appointments. No much time from the rest of the family members also to check and care his nutrition aside that they find him old and sickly, they were also busy for their own family. It really felt bad that time because I can't even came to attend the burial. 😭💔 What I can do only is I just prayed and lighted candle at the church. I sent help to contribute for the financial expenses for my grand father's burial. I know he is now in God's place and watching also over us. I am sure my grandfather is very happy that one of his grandaughter made the dream come true to stay in Europe. His first member of the family circle made it and able to help my mother's unfortunate life in marriage. That he is looking now from heaven that I can help my younger siblings to reach out them from poverty. I know how it was heart breaking for my grandfather seeing us from the poverty and bad fate of my mother suffered but when he knew that I got my visa to get into Europe, he saw the bright future I will have and the opportunity to help my family. 😊😭 I saw the joy in his eyes and how he was thankful to God how I was blessed. The sacrifices I made were all paid off and I saw how he was proud and happy for me, for my mother and siblings. I couldn't made this without their sacrifices and unending prayers for me. 🙏💖 It's my way of love showing to my family that somehow in my own little way I can let them experience how to live in a comfortable life too.. That they can eat delicious foods that they only once dream before and most of all to let them have not much difficulties of able to finish college. So later on they can work and able to make their dream come true to have a better life. I know how it feels to have nothing or live in poverty. 💔😢 It's my family primarily who gave me unconditional love and support despite of our unpriviliged status in life made me determined to my dreams. I saw Mat Monro at the cresta nightclub in Solihull early 70s he was Awesome I went to see him again the next night he was a short guy sitting on a tall stool singing Paloma Blanca and unfortunately he fell of the stool and Broke his collarbone and went to Solihull Hospital it was in the local news

Thank you You Tube! I first heard this beautiful voice in 1964 when I saw the movie of the same title "From Russia with Love". This is in Manila, Philippines at Cinerama, one of the largest and modern movie theater in Manila at that time. I was young then but the memory stuck with this amazing voice. RIP Mr. Monro.
