359 GTS Wheels Get Mounted On The 1M

Күн бұрынIt's time to get the 359 GTS wheels mounted to the 1M. These are way more my style vs the "Hot Boy" RSV wheels. I mess around with some spacers to get a flush look but in the end I removed them because the front rubbed the liner. I'll retry the spacers after I get an alignment, the 1M seems to have a more aggressive front camber than stock.

Matt if you're using an impact there's no need to break the bolts, it's actually putting more stress on them.

You've got the wrong guy on that one. This is literally the first time I've used an impact to break lugs. I figured out 5 minutes into use.

Love the 1M. Put a small dab of anti seize on the hub, that way the wheel won't stick. You could also do that for the spacer.

Turner make their bmw spacers with the hub lip integrated, I’ve got their 5 and 7mm. I know all about the shimmy when putting spacers on my old Audi’s as nobody offered them in smaller widths

Get a jar of anti-seize. Brush a thin coat on the wheel or the rotor/hub. I also put some on the lug threads and the seats. Some people will argue that that will affect the net torque value, but I've never had a lug come loose. Your center locks use a lot of anti-seize, but I don't know if Porsche adjusted the torque specs for that. It's not an apples to apples comparison since it's one lug vs. five lugs.

Love the way they look! I’m on the fence about getting these for my e90 M3 or getting a set of Apex ARC-8’s. I just have to get over my personal issue with wheel spacers 🤷🏼♂️

I love everything you do to all of your cars. But the onlyyyyyyyyy thing I would change is that 3 color M badging in the grills. The only reason is its become a bit tacky since every young Bmw owner at my school slaps one on regardless of the condition of the car or if its even a "M"

Matt, push down and use your body weight while torquing your wheels. Don’t pull up and use your back. Looks much better now with the new wheels

Strange the 1M didnt come with Brembo in the rear. Have an 135i and it has Brembo in front and rear.

I added a 1/4" spacer on my C7 ZO6 and when I went to tighten my lugs it would not torque to 100 ft/pounds. Just kept spinning and then strip the lug nut. So I cancelled that idea.

No need to break the lugs loose on the ground when using an impact. Lift it up and zip them off.

Should use anti-seize not lube. The lube will leech out and contaminate your brakes.

Looks good Matt. Fellow Nova grad and 1M owner here. I have the same issue with rust on my wheel hubs and am looking to clean them up in the spring. What type of paint would you plan on using on them? Looking forward to seeing a video on the painting!

I had a set of wheel hangers for my M3 - tried them on my Z4 (having read a lot of the suspension components are from the 3 series) and discovered the lug bolts were smaller than on the M3. It may be the same issue for the 1M?

When you're looking for BMW ( 5 x 120mm) spacers, I keep a comprehensive list of options organized by features here: www.sr20-forum.com/general-non-sr20-discussion/!74606-bmw-z3-wheel-spacer-options-all-inclusive.html There are other lists like this I've done for other parts, all found in the Z3 Manifesto.
