If you take the bottom of the ear wire with flat nose pliers and give it 1/4 turn, it will face forwards so that you don't have to add the extra jumpring and the earring will stay front facing. Just a little tip I thought I'd share.
@MattsCrazyArt4 жыл бұрын
Yes, very true, but a lot of earring hooks are made from brittle metal and it's very easy to break the loop if you're not careful, that way.

I had some leather pendants and didn't know how I was going to embellish them. This gave me some ideas. Thanks. Do the burnt embellishments smell like burnt leather afterwards?
@MattsCrazyArt4 жыл бұрын
They smell kind of charcoally in the moment but don't really smell afterwards unless you put your face in them and try to smell them, in which case they smell like charcoal and leather.
@normabyrd2744 жыл бұрын
Matt, are you leaving the wires loose---not attached to the leather? Me thinks loose so they move. You're approach to design is so refreshing! Inspires me to take off in all kinds of different "Crazy Matt" directions. Also, did I hear you say a small soldering iron would work too?
@MattsCrazyArt4 жыл бұрын
Woodburning tool is a modified soldering iron. Get it at any craft store for like $16
@normabyrd2744 жыл бұрын
@@MattsCrazyArt How modified? I have small and large soldering irons I use in leaded and copper foiled stained glass art. Use either as is?

What brand of hole punch are you using? It works much better than mine. Love your ideas in this video.

I dunno, bought it in a leather store years ago for $20. The cheap one from Michaels looks the same, was only $10, but is much less powerful.

Or if you know a leather salesman, you can get scraps for free. If you don't, look for a leather manufacturer in your area. They sells boxes of scrap way cheaper than a craft store. Right now, I have 6 tubs of scrap leather and didn't pay a dime.
