The first vid I ever say of yours was "Chunky, Funky Rings," which opened a whole new world of encouragement for me. I had been slacking on my jewelry making around that time, and your videos really helped me rejuvenate my art in a meaningful way. Seeing this one brings that all back to me.

That's why I like to watch your videos, not only for the wire wrapping, but the practical suggestions too. Great job on the 11 rings! Thanks, Matt.

Thanks for sharing! You make it look so easy. I've tried several times and I just can't keep my sizing right or get the wire to sit around the stone how I want. Practice, practice, and more practice makes perfect I guess. Watching you and how you work helps me see the 'right' way to do it. I also love when you give us tips and tricks. Those of us trying to learn really appreciate you sharing your expertise and passion for jewelry! Thank you so much for all your videos!

I love watching your vids! So many cool ideas! I’m just getting into wire wrapping, some of your hacks are perfect for us on a budget! Btw: if you put a piece of clear scotch tape over those numbers on your ring mandrel the numbers will stay longer. Just a tip I have learned for making permanent marker stick to glossy surfaces. (I use it on top of prescription bottles)

@TwistedElegantWireJewelry
@TwistedElegantWireJewelry 29 күн бұрын
Ive been there, to break the paralysis you have to just make things, dont worry about cutting the wire, dont worry about "would it be pretty" or would people like it, or my biggest was I dont want to waste wire, just make and understand that in the beginning we will waste alot of wire, but its part of the learning process. craft wire is cheap, you can buy at any craft shop or I like Parawire.

30 to 40 for them to start looking good?? Wow!!
@TwistedElegantWireJewelry
@TwistedElegantWireJewelry 29 күн бұрын
I believe he was overzealous when he said $30-$40 dollars ea for them, these rings are entry level ring designs and you will have issues trying to sell them at that price point, now at $6-$8 ea or maybe $10, they should sell very well. He made 11 rings in 30 mins, which is 22 rings an hour, if all are sold, that equals to $132($6x22) dollars at a venue, or $16.50 per hour if you sell at the venue for 8hours, and if you only made and sold 22 rings. Now thats not bad for an hourly pay depending on what state you live in, rings like those have maybe $0.75-$1.00 of material in them, so for $6 dollars thats pretty good. Im going to throw in some math here.... ok, so lets say, your hourly rate is $16.50 and you make 22 rings in 1hour, thats $0.75 per ring in labor, now lets add cost of goods, lets say $0.75 per ring, we times that by 3 (3Xmaterial) thats $2.25, we add in the labor which is $0.75 that $3.00 (Product cost) so now we take $3 and we add a multiplier of 2X which is a retail price of $6 which is pretty good. Now of course Im not takings anything away from Mat, he is a great wire artist and is kind enough to show us how his brain works and helps beginner wire artist how to make money and sales, which is why most of us watch him.

When using copper wire, how do you keep it from oxidizing and turning the wearers finger green?
@MattsCrazyArt
@MattsCrazyArt Жыл бұрын
Most craft wire is coated to prevent tarnishing. With bare copper, you can find a clear spray to seal it but with wear and tear, that will rub off usually in time
@Luva-_-
@Luva-_- Ай бұрын
I LOVED this video! I haven't made any jewelry, but I especially appreciate this because you actually talk about profit $$$. I wanted to know if this wire is treated for oxidation? I don't know a lot about the metal, so I was wondering if the wire would need to be coated with something like Permalac? Sorry, if I sound totally clueless, but I am! Matt this is AWESOME work, and you are so down-to-earth. Thank you!!!💍😆
@TwistedElegantWireJewelry

raw copper will oxidize, and will need to be coated to prevent it from doing so and reacting to you skin, you can buy tarnish resist copper wire, Parawire sell very nice coated and tarnish resistant wires. Hope this helps.
