Theme of the story: What we wouldn't do for all of humanity we would do for a friend. Great book. I enjoyed it a lot and I'm glad you did too.

I hope the end credits song is "here comes the sun" (by The Beatles) sung by Rocky. Have "Sol" literally be the notes of "do do do do doo"

I like Andy Weir's books so far, and the kind of heroic, "against all odds" stories he seems to love telling. I always feel a sense of "human triumph" after reading one of them, and I hope he keeps them coming.

SPOILERS -- SUPER DO NOT READ IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT EVER READ THE BOOK WHICH YOU SHOULD CAUSE ITS GREAT 15:15 what i think is really cool is that Grace literally *didn't* make that choice the first time. he had to be kidnapped and given amnesia drugs to go on the mission in the first place. it's only after his character grows that he *does* do it

In a lot of ways, this is one of my favorite books ever. It just hit in such unexpected ways and was so glad I read it. To date, this is the one book I recommend to people where I get nearly unanimous feedback about how much they loved it. Will be there day 1 for the movie as well. I desperately hope the trailers will be sensitive to spoiling it, but not holding my breath.

I just finished reading this today so perfect timing! While reading and when I finished, I thought about how much you were going to enjoy this. I absolutely loved this book and since we have pretty much the same tastes in reading I am not shocked you did too. After finishing Faithful and The Fallen this felt like a good change of pace and simpler to read, but I was also treated to an incredible story!

I loved this book. I only had two minor issues that stopped it from being a perfect 10 for me. (MINOR SPOILERS) 1. I thought countries agreeing to give one person global authority occurred too easily 2. I agree with sometimes lacking tension. I felt a couple of times Andy Weir went a bit too science nerd fan and it made me think, alright, he used a bunch of math to figure it out, let’s get back to moving the plot forward. But this is being nitpicky. It’s undoubtedly one of the best sci-fI books I’ve ever read.

If you enjoy Project Hail Mary and Dungeon Crawler Carl, Bobiverse is right up your alley. Its kind of a middle ground between the two. Ray Porter does the narration on the audiobook, he also did the Project Hail Mary narration. He really is a fantastic narrator.

He's 71 earth years since his birth and somewhere in his mid 50s that he's experienced due to time dilation by the end of the book. I don't suspect he has any great adventures with Rocky in his future. If this book did have a sequel, the only interesting story would be him returning to Earth and we get to see what's changed since he left. It might be cool to read but I think they left it at the right spot as it is.

Loved Project Hail Mary. I thought Earth part of story helped explain what was going on. The ending of this book was perfect. The only caveat I have is if the main character told his story partially in journal form or used a recording which might have made it a tiny bit better to do something later in story if you know what I mean.

I thought The Martian was okay but not great. It was a page-turner, but I got really tired of the main character along the way. I think it would have been a lot more interesting to have him grapple with loneliness and fear along with cookie-cutter engineering problems instead of just the latter.

I don't understand why this book is such bestseller? This is probably the most childish book I have read in last 10 years. It feels like it was writen by 15 yo kid. Andy Weir shows that his understanding of the way world works at the crisis is at the level of a primary school child. Do you seriusly believe we would leave all power in hands of one crazy chick in such case? Bonkers! Additionally, his prose sucks. I don't care how interesting your idea for a book is (and in this case, not so interesting at all), what matters is the execution. Andy Weir is just a bad writer. Project Hail Mary is one of those rare examples (interestingly, next to another book by this author) when the film will be a better adaptation than the book.

Brother, God loves you so very much that He sent His Son Jesus Christ, who bled and died on a cross for you, so that you may have a chance to believe in Him, and have by believing in His name you may have eternal life, full of His peace. Without Jesus as your Lord and master, you will always feel an empty void inside of you. And what's more, He has risen back to life so that you may be justified. Jesus loves you, God cares for you! Therefore repent from your ways, and believe the good news.
