@Studflucker
@Studflucker Жыл бұрын
@@georgelamprinos2960 In some cases, yes. Most accidents are cause by "stupidity" (i.e. mistakes). Every case is different but I think in THIS particular case insurance would cover this possible engine replacement. They aren't covering his 'mistake' by running the engine with no oil. The incident was the 'collision' that caused the damage to the oil pan and subsequent damage to the engine. So in this case I'd say as long as that customer had collision and comprehensive coverage he should be covered by insurance.

Indeed. I also refer to such people as Darwin's Awards. Google 'Darwin's awards'. It's pretty dark comedy, but it's helps you to realize, it's not difficult to put oneself in really bad, sketchy situations. It may be harsh, but it's true. The world is over populated. Maybe Scrooge is on to something: "Decrease the surplus population" Common sense just doesn't seem very common any longer. I refer to it as (not so) common sense. Over complex electronic nanny's, and overly complex (that should be simple) mechanical machinery is also 'job security' for me. I wrench on mere bicycles for fun in my retirement. But Ive built aircraft, spacecraft and surgical devices in my career. The sorts of things human lives rely upon. Lots of my customers rely on bicycles only to get wherever they need to go. The amount of marketing BS and over the top BS technology people buy and are impressed by is amazing.

Folks need to practice birth control or just not fornicate. Its a simple solution, personal responsibility that is. Then again, I should confess I live in Wackofornia. I can't wait to cash out and escape to the Rockies, where I can't see my nearest neighbor. This 'state' has been in gradual and constant decline for about as long as I've existed. Ive never paid anyone to fix my bicycles in my 61 years. My dad told me to learn to DIY or I'd be walking. That was one of the best lessons I ever learned!! I wrench on all my motor vehicles too. They're certainly not rocket science , though it would be really fun to build a rocket car if I lived in Utah! Yet, I work in one of the priciest zip codes in the USA. This is where some of the richest 2% of our population live. You'd think they posess a little bit of (not so) common sense. People come to me all the time just to pump up their freakin tires. I live Quebec Canada, i have lived my whole life(61years) in lots of snow every winter, you can’t drive in snow like you do in sand or anything else, snow when heated by friction of your tire will become ice, it means if you are stuck you can’t just spin your wheels, the trick is to rock the boat, which means: a bit the opposite way you where going until you feel it starts spinning and brake and then the other way and so on back and forth to create a motion without spinning as much as possible

I would liken it to sloshing water in the bathtub. You want to get the slosh going so that you can build up momentum in the ruts that you're building even if they're icy you should be able to build up enough momentum to pop yourself up and out of them or dig them to something firmer. If you don't rock it you're not rolling it. The other problem is most people that drive automatics don't understand that the 1 and the 2 are for getting out of those exact types of situations. Of course I have a stick and those are just awesome for getting those situations because you can shift quick enough between forward and reverse.

My brother in law’s uncle has a cabin up there. I got stuck in the snow the same way the pickup and Morrvair both got stuck. There are deep drainage ditches that get covered in the snow. You don’t see the ditch until your front wheels drop down into it. I got pulled out by my brother in law’s cousin. Put my chains on and had no more problems knowing not to park in the ditch. Had a great weekend at the cabin riding snowmobiles.

I bet the first guy was using a GPS instead of common sense. Likely the first time he was in the area or in such bad roads, likely from a city or suburb area. Its too bad someone didn't stop him before he got into trouble. I like how nicely you treated him. He could also face a huge bill from the rental company for driving it off road as his fault, maybe on their no rental list. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and thank you for your family, team for your entertaining videos. No cussing, great teamwork shown, very nice people. I got into YT videos earlier this year, after a few months of retirement from 43 years of working as a litigation paralegal in NYC, as too much of TV, daytime or in prime time is garbage. So I own this car, 2023 Hyundai Elantra, and yes it is very frustrating trying to move it or recover it. The anchor points are great! That said wouldn't it be safer to have either temporary flashing lights or some permanent lights that could enhance visibility, I know our light bars could add white light at night for lighting up the area, and or flashing lights to warn approaching traffic. In your kit you ould have pylons,flares, high visibly traffic vest, etc. My main concern has to be a warning light system. Smart move there Matt, marrying such a brilliant lady. Once again, Jaymie is smart enough to take over the driver’s seat and keep warm. And as others have said already, you’re comment, or lack thereof, when the guy assured you the engine still works, “because I had it running just 4/5 minutes ago,” was classic Matt. If the Morrvair got stuck then the truck had no chance at all to save itself. I was thinking the weird noise @12:53 was going to be another issue to deal with before the truck recovery even got started. I wonder if Matt will dress as Santa? Then again it might be an adult party. Either way I hope everyone enjoys themselves. It would be cool of Matt if he gave Lizzy a Christmas bonus. She can handle any task and I think she has been there the longest. I hope you all (viewers included) have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, healthy, safe and prosperous New Year. ---Anyone else cold? It's -4 degrees here in the hills and valleys of SE Ohio with a wind chill of -22 degrees. Matt might even need a coat for a recovery here right now. As usual a small rock chip in my windshield turned into a growing crack every time I am forced to turn the defroster on. I could find a truck hauling gravel and get his plate number and claim one of his gravels hit it. Here in Ohio if something off a truck breaks your windshield then they are at fault. If something is on the road and a truck/car slings it into the windshield and breaks it then your insurance has to pay. Deer hits are similar, if you call your insurance and tell them you hit a deer then you have to pay a deductible the same as a collision. But if you tell them the deer ran into you then you don't. Enough guys, too much coffee, later.

not on all vehicles.. some are hidden levers you need to find, maybe the centre console, maybe the dash... you use the key to slide the lock then lift the lever.. and then need to slide the lock to lower the lever. And those who told you to look in the owners manual were right;) . With push button think if it like a key. First you put it in slot one then you move the key accessory mode third move starts. It’s the same concept but just a button instead of a key. Don’t touch the brake on push buttons and they don’t start. The owners manual would of told you how to put in accessory mode also since you didn’t know. When you said I don’t know to put in it that mode… look up that mode😂.

With most vehicles, there is a brake lock associated with the transmission to prevent takeoffs when switching gears. Most push button cars, will require you to press the start button and then the 2nd time with your foot OFF the brake pedal. Once in the start position, pressing the brake pedal will release the transmission lock allowing you to change gear. As for the perceived Tow hook, these are not meant for towing the car but just to secure them in transit on the car carriers. This is why most manufacturers no longer supply the hook in the trunk.

That rental car was run for a lot longer than a couple minutes as the customer said. He said it was good and cold, the air-conditioning that is. That didn't cool down to cold in a couple minutes and then he sat in there to Cool himself. All more than a couple minutes and just long enough to burn the bearings. Matt gets credit for seeing the puddle of oil when you consider that his first pull was from the back of the car. Some people might have missed that oil dump completely had they walked up and connected to the rear end. The "Master Recovery Tech" did it again.

0:11 I've driven off road, starting from Mesquite (bottom center of screen), headed north up to Caliente and then to Pioche (100+ miles). There are some nice stretches on the northern third. But other than a few well maintained, straight roads like Matt began driving on here (1:01) a lot of the roads are washboard, with desert brush boxing the vehicle onto the road. The terrain is nowhere near as nice as other areas in Utah and Nevada

I still think 3rd custom vehicle to build. A 2 ton crew cab, long bed frame. Stick a reg cab and a aluminum roll back platform on a extended frame. Pull up Jeep’s, cars, side by sides. It of course would not fit tight trails. That’s the heavy wrecker place. But often it looks like places a average 4wd with decent tires could go. Have you ever considered a emergency lighting kit? I just saw a video of guy pulling a car with a winch. Across a city street. A car with dash camera running did not see the rope. (Or either vehicle) nailed rope, totaled the car. Watching footage , knowing there was a winch cable. I did not see it till too late. Maybe wig wag to LEDs in corners?
