In this video I am taking my first look, walk around and test drive of this brand new 2023 Kia Sportage SX Prestige. I'm seriously considering this same SUV. It has a lot to offer. I'm driving a 2011 Equinox which is starting to have some issues. It's been a good vehicle for me, but I'm pretty sure I don't want the 2023 Equinox. You don't get near as much as this Sportage. Can you tell me it the rear hatch can be set to open 3/4 of the way instead of all the way? And how are you liking this car after driving it for a few months? I am hoping to go drive this car, however, my local Kia dealer has very limited stock.

@@barbs1298 . . . yes, you can adjust it to the opening height you want. We just bought the same vehicle (SX Prestige ) without the all-wheel drive, and the included features for the money is fantastic. I have owned Kia/Hyundai products since 2003, and I have watched the build quality improve with each generation. As for the powertrain warranty (10yr/100,000 mi), it can't be beat. Don't consider buying it . . . like Nike says, "Just Do It."

@@alissatyau849 Yes. My previous car was white with black & white custom rims, so I decided to get this color. It's so appealing, and I've seen other car companies gray family color, buy nothing like Kia Wolf Gray! 😉

@@SuperMan-nk3td thanks for your comment. 0-60 to me is not important unless I am reviewing a performance vehicle. What I care more about is the ability to safely merge in trafiic than 0-60 time.

I was considering this beautiful Sportage SX Prestige, unfortunately I read that Kia and Hyundai have TONS of engine problems and with many dealerships not honoring the warranty. as this is a new model its too soon to know if this is still reliable enough. Great Review

All cars have issues, According to JD Power and Associates Kia has the least out of all manufacturers in new and 3 year old study.

Unless they have drastically changed something but I have a 2017 Kia Sportage Turbo with 196000 + or - a few miles that I purchased new and have only had 2 things go bad on the entire car . 1 was an alternator and 2 was the air conditioner pump and god as my witness that is it and still driving it every day . Have never missed an oil change and tire rotation but it is getting close to needing my second set of tires and a second set of brakes . My wife and I have been saving in are car fund and just about have enough to pay cash by mid November and have been looking at the SX Kia Sports Prestige .Still shopping around though . P.S. I. never buy their 10 year 100,000 mile drive train warranty , but we will see .

That was the Theta II that had all the problems, this is the Theta III, a different design. Hyundai and Kia dealers do suck though.

This vehicle offers so much for the money, and it makes almost no sense to buy a “badge” for $20-30k more, and still not have all of the tech it offers, and with a 10 year drivetrain warranty to back it up. It almost makes my 2018 stinger seem primitive!😂

I just complained on another of your videos about no lower end models having wireless charging..but man, I just found the Sportage and Jesus Even the top trim model is still under 45,000 after the government rebates. And the interior looks sexy af. I'm definitely getting this one in August. Though, now that I am further in your video, it must be a Canadian thing for the interior to be Red on the SX.

@@MattTheCarguy My local dealer up here in Michigan is marking them up as the supply is so short, even with the mark up they're selling out as fast as they come in. Probably due to gas prices, also you cannot order but go on a wait list...crazy times!

If you want one at ticket price Jeff Belzer’s (i might have spelled that wrong) in Lakeville, MN sells at MSRP. Michigan isn’t too far from MN, if you really want one at ticket it would be worth it.

35500 was the total MSRP of the one that I reviewed. All equipment and pricing is in the description of this video. Dealers especially nowadays mark them up on top of MSRP but if you shop around you can find one even with a discount. If you are looking for AWD it cost 1800 more.

can you have screen navigation using your own map with Apple carplay with this car? I read in a review that the car doesn't let you use it. Is that correct? Also, I read in a review that the bumper to bumper warranty is 1 year, is that correct?

Of you can use Apple Carplay and Android Auto but you have to connect ypur phone using a USB cable. The warranty may be different in different parts of the world but here in USA it is: 10-year/100,000 mile limited powertrain warranty • 5-year/60,000 mile limited basic warranty • 5-year/100,000 mile limited anti-perforation warranty • 5-year/60,000 mile roadside assistance plan

Test drove two today... Amazing in all aspects. Out of 7 SUVs I have driven, this one is by far the best driving experience. The only downside is the gas mileage in AWD... So low

100% agree! The gas mileage can definitely be improved. Rav4 and Crv beat it by quite a bit.

@Matt The Carguy urs, but this vehicle is a lower trim and has 3 buttons labeled. Mine is SX Prestige and has 4 buttons. 2 are blank.

My 2021 Kia SX Turbo has far more power.

I really liked that SX Turbo but and it does have more power but if you look at the numbers the 2023 Sportage Hybrid is just as quick 0-60 at 7.2s and the plug in hybrid is at 6.9s vs 2021 Turbo at 7.2s.

@@MattTheCarguy I did look at that but the flat bottom steering wheel in the 2021 and the more integrated computer screen are far more stylish. Plus I have tan leather with charcoal colors trim. I put a tan dash cover in my SX. The 19 in tires are more handy cytotoxic dirt gullies on the many county dirt roads in Texas.

True, but it was never meant to be fast, but it is about the same as the new Cr-v, base engine Rav4 and non turbo Cx-5.

The power is just fine for normal driving. If you are the type to race from light to light, then this is not for you. I have driven up to 85 MPH and it did perfectly well.

Get an EV6 top of the line (GT) which has 430kw of power....that is the most powerful car Kia has ever produced.....to put it in perspective, a BMW M3 has 353kw of power

I'm in South Africa. We only get a 1.6 turbo engine for all the trims this year. I would love 2.0L or even a diesel option.
