I checked recently with Harvest Hosts….finally, as long as they are self-contained, minivans ARE now accepted by the organization.

Great video! Harvest Hosts has served me very well. I wouldn’t call it money saving but overall it’s been a very good experience in some beautiful places.

This type of overnight opportunity is great. Harvest Hosts: Likely it is very secure, and quiet. Some campgrounds can be very noisy, and perhaps charge $12 or more. Spend your money on a goodie and treat yourself! With confidence in peace. Boondockers: Peaceful secure night expected. Perhaps meet some nice folks that become good friends. And maybe they can provide good direction or recommendations that will enhance your travels. Golf Courses: Just be aware that wildlife is usually abundant. So be prepared, aware to protect yourself. And keep the camera ready. Good reviews! Now you have competition! HAHAHA!

Oh that's actually cool. Initially I thought that you still get charged per night stay at harvest host, but that's not the case. Good way to try new things when you do choose to check out what the business has to offer

It might still be possible to get accepted with harvest host while in a minivan. But I'm just afraid that the host would jump to conclusions and think that the minivan would not be self-contained . It's not fair. But so far I have not seen one single minivan at a harvest host site. I've seen everything from class A's all the way down to full size standard top vans like I have

Not to disagree but I will bc I’ve been with harvest host for years now. 😅 They expect you to spend $30. It’s right in their expectations. I wrote them an email about that because they recently raised it from $20. $30 isn’t bad for a couple but as a single person it gets expensive. The HH is for us to have a safe place to park and for the business to make money. $30 is still cheaper than some places but not the kinds I like to go to. It can really add up. Just my 2¢ or cuz of inflation $30 lol

Thanks for bringing us this option. What an amazing alternative! Really nice change of pace plus activities. Sad that mini vans are out! Mine is a passenger/mini van combo. It is an extended van. I wonder if it would be an exception? I have a self contained toilet, cooking options, I have grey water containment and I have a collapsible sink with drain that can fits into a table and an electric cooler. I plan on putting in curtains as well. Just bought it. This had room for three rows of seats. Great info!! Luv ya, love your channel❣️ 🚐 ⛳🍽️🍳🏌️‍♂️

I guess it is possible To still do harvest host in a minivan. I just worry that the host would jump to conclusions when they see it's a minivan and automatically decline to host you. It's not fair. 😕

I’m looking at their website at types of rvs they take - and it says campervans, cargo, mini… but maybe most “no build” minivans fail the particular self contained requirements?

That’s it their requirements: A self-contained RV is one that is set up to accommodate all functions of living (sleeping, eating, cooking, and sanitation) inside the RV. This means it has to be designed and built for human habitation and contain facilities for safe food storage, cooking, eating, sleeping and washing so that all functions of living can happen while inside the RV. The bed or fold-out couch/table that converts to a bed must be built-in (not a mattress on the floor). There must be ventilation, lighting, and built-in cabinets to properly secure items during transit. Your RV must have an interior toilet. Porta-potties that remain inside the vehicle at all times are acceptable but must be dumped off-site at an appropriate facility. You must have a sink that is installed and the drain connected by plumbing to a grey water holding tank. A removable greywater tank is acceptable but it must be secured in place and have a watertight seal between the tank and pipe or hose connecting it to the sink. See examples at the bottom of this article of acceptable and unacceptable gray water storage.

I have a question not addressed with these campgrounds are you saving money on gas. You don't have to have a plan A B C and maybe on the west coast EFG.. question is how many miles do you normally travel in between campsites as opposed to now?
