In this video I review a car that is rumoured to have been previously owned by Jeremy Clarkson. In fact you can see the car in a Twitter post he made back in 2015 here: je...
The car is a serious piece of kit. Even today this 20,000 mile example is worth well over £100,000. In this video I explain why by talking through the upgrades over the standard model. There are significant changes to the chassis, styling and interior of the car. And the exhaust and engine have ben uprated too.

Jeremy mentioned it in one of his columns, saying that the Lotus test driver who designed the Top Gear test track reckons he can re-tune the standard rock-hard suspension to be much softer still gain time over the standard car. So the car Mat's testing here is in fact tuned by the Lotus driver, and yes it is faster round that track than a standard car.

The keyless start stop button function will not turn on if the key is in the ignition. Take the key out of the ignition and the button will work 👍🏻

Matt you should let people know that on the. Black series clk, all the front and rear quarter panels have been switched with carbon fiber ones. There is a lot more carbon than just the exposed bits.

9:40 That offset seating position is just as noticeable on LHD cars. Back when I was still reviewing cars for a living, we had the good fortune of Mercedes bringing us a Black Series CLK (on a covered trailer, no less) to the office. It wasn't my review, but I got to drive the car in the week it was at the office and besides the puny gear-lever, the weird driving position was pretty much the only negative I could find with the car... Well... 500 hp and those flared wheel-arches make up for a lot of negatives, so I may have been a bit biased... :D

@@MB077 are you guys sure it had keyless start? Back in 08 those start/stop buttons were more a novelty as you typically had to turn the key then hit the button, it was more annoying than anything else lol. It's possible the button was just bypassed.

Apart from what Mat already said, there can be problems with the "vanos" aswell. Most of these problems where taken care of when the SLS came along. There's info online about this, also FROM which engine number these changes were made. For example the 507 edition C63 had the upgraded engine if I'm correct.

The M156 is still such a hoot. Lots of torque, beautiful noise and revs high for a 6.2 lump. The "63" cars of that era are fantastic.

FYI Mat, they are called pillarless windows, not frameless. I used to associate pillarless designs with coupes, but they are so rare these days. I love my convertible partly just for the lack of pillars and having a button that drops all 4 windows together, and they are down whenever the cars on.

Start/Stop button won't work if you leave the key in the ignition. Your car keys are supposed to be in your pocket if you want to use keyless go options, you should know that much ;)

The STop STart button is deactivated once you put the key in. The keys is meant to go in the ash tray so keys dont dangle. Then press the button it will work.

All the comments about bad comfort of this car by Clarkson are rushing back to my mind😂. One of my favorite. "This car is not as uncomfortable as my black series but then again falling down a flight of stairs is more comfortable then my Merc"
