One month after a devastating wildfire tore through Lahaina, Maui, this emotional documentary follows the paddle out ceremony honoring lives lost. We interview heartbroken victims who lost everything in the blaze and controversially still can't access their property. While rebuilding continues, the community comes together for this moving Hawaiian ceremony to say goodbye to loved ones and pay tribute to the island's resilience. As we return from the ceremony by boat, a massive pod of dolphins begins swimming alongside us. According to Hawaiian beliefs, dolphins escort the souls of the recently departed to the afterlife. This stirring scene provides comfort and hope for Maui's future. Experience the moving stories, stunning visuals, and spiritual connection to nature in this documentary about the road to recovery after tragedy.

This a moment of prayer, healing and strenght. Never thought I would see this for so many broken hearts. Hawaiian's are much stronger than a fire. If anyone messes with their families and their land and expects them to crawl away, defeated...they made the biggest mistake of their lives. May GOD give you all everything your soul needs because that will lift you higher. Where the world has failed you, for whatever reason, may those in charge suffer beyond this world. @@VinceTomJones , I would respectfully disagree. I have had the great pleasure of working with Hawaiian families, 7 days a week, no days off, some times we would work 18 hours a day. What I learned is that they are the hardest working people I have ever known. They love deeply each and every family member even an adopte one like me. They teach respect to their offspring and the offspring show respect to those they meet. They love to have parties and no one leaves their house, hungry. And every Sunday, the whole gang would head to church. If the church had a volleyball team, they coached, they never missed a Sunday. It was a beautiful, eye opening experience for me. I also learned about how we really acquired Hawaii. I worked with them for 5 years. Oh, one more thing I disagree with, is you seem to speak for GOD here. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that, whilst we should use discernment , we should not be so presumptuous to think that GOD had anything to do with these fires.

I was thirteen the first time I went to Lahaina, I'm now 62. It was a sleepy little hippy town back in the mid 70's, so different from what it became. As a boater, scuba diver and a drinker Lahaina town was the center of all our adventures. The drinking would start as soon as the gear was rinsed and stowed. Every tattoo on my body was done off Front St. or near the dive shop. Always took it for granted that Lahaina would there our next time out, now it's nothing but ashes and memories.

Lahaina was the first place I stepped foot on Maui after sailing over from Moloka'i on a friend's trimaran...in 1996.. I hitchiked across Maui to baby beach where I met up w a bunch of hippies and ended up staying a year ..all over Maui., I absolutely adore this island and now I'll cry even harder when I return

My HEART breaks for all these people! What has been done to them by our government is beyond despicable!! May they stand strong, hold on to their land, and vote RED! I pray for them, and the deceased, every day! I pray they overcome this murderous act! This paddle out is beautiful! It is a wonderful way to show respect to the lost loved ones. My husband and I witnessed a paddle out for Jack O'neill when he passed (in Santa Cruz) It was one of the most touching experiences I have ever had. My love goes out to all in Maui!! At the end of Jack's paddle out, a huge whale leaped out of the ocean. Even ocean creatures are connected to mourning! Everyone, PLEASE continue to support and donate to the people of Maui!!

@@websurfer5772 Most likely got put on those missing 15 buses. I think some parents and kids got loaded on the Lanai'i ferry (btw...Where is that Ferry now???) and the 183 dead bodies are the parents that got knocked off and washed up on the Lanai'i shores. Bc, you cannot float from Maui across to Lanai'i or Molaki'i w/o getting sucked south to Tahiti...near impossible. It is a dangerous channel w a strong current south.
