My Trumpet teacher at Bowling Green State University, George Novak gave me his tickets to hear Maurice Andre' in ¹975, It was a Career forming experience for me! I have never heard playing with that much Artistry & Richness of tone! I spent the next 43 years with Andre's sound in my soul! To this day I emulate him! Michael McClary, McClary, Professor of Trumpet 🎺, Georgia Perimeter College and GSU 🎉🎉❤❤😂

Extraordinaire; attaque, coup de langue, contrôle du son, tenue des notes, légèreté, la fin du premier mouvement est très émouvante. Il est toujours le grand maître de cet instrument très ingrat mais au combien merveilleux.

Il suono di Maurice André non ce l’ha nessuno: ha una proiezione incredibile nonostante suona sempre piano. È lui il migliore della storia della tromba.

And I love that variation of articulation he does about 5:15 on that passage.....tongue slur tongue tongue, then tongue tongue slur tongue near the end. He was the man!

My point is that as the pre-eminent Classical Trumpeter of his day , he must have played the concerto hundreds of times. It is, along with the Hummel Concerto the most often played concerto. He should be able to play it Blindfold.

Getting notes doesn't really matter at that level of playing, since performers so often play every note perfectly. The thing that matters is interpretation, and his style is near perfect. That is what makes him arguably the best classical Trumpeter ever.
